  1. When I emailed the seller above he said he would be able to sell me the product for $150aud including postage. He also mentioned that this will not include any import fee's/taxes if they apply in aus... Does anyone know about these fee's and if they apply/how much they would be? Or even who to call to find out? I'm also a little worried about not having heard of the brand.. Maybe a cheap bushnel would be the way to go Scott, have you had a chance to give yours a go yet? I'll only be using it for bunnies/foxes/targets and mostly for fun for the time being.
  2. This is the cheapest one I have found so far. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320575662190&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I have to say, it looks to be horrible quality and still not that cheap..
  3. I have done a search and not quite found what I was looking for. I'm after opinions on using budget range finders within 100-350ish metres. I know everyone says spend more and get a quality one but in all honesty I just want to try one out and see if I would actually use/see if it actually improves my holdovers etc.. So basically I'm after opinions on cheaper models in midrange use and how they perform. I really don't want to be paying more than 150-200 max so I'm talking low end stuff here. If I find out ones for that price are total rubbish I will wait until I'm willing to spend more but that wont e anytime soon. Also wondering where to look for a second hand one, I tried eBay in Aus and USA. Bugger all in Aus and most cheap ones in the US don't post internationally.
  4. Ps. The idea of it being usable as both a head unit and scope attachment is brilliant, makes spending the money more easily justifiable. I'm not sure if I appreciate you doing that though haha
  5. Sounds like an interesting project. I followed the other nv topic for quite a while. Your post alone is getting me excited But also sad because I probably wont be able to buy one lol. Keep us updated on the progress optic!
  6. Thanks for the replies guys, I had guessed I would be safe getting them from Aus but I also found lower prices on similar knives in America. I think I'll stick to the Aus stores anyway just to cut down the postage time. What I read must have been about the Balisongs like you said Travis as I have looked up some similar knives to those before. I prefer the traditional look too; the 'tactical' style do look a little bit conspicuous and the black coated stuff looks horrible after a couple of sharpens.. Another I was looking at was: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280546417595&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_10729wt_1137 But I do prefer a sharper point on my general purpose knives as it makes delicate work much easier. Jase - I have to agree with you there, most of my knives were pretty cheap and they hold an edge quite well. They might not be quite the quality of a $150 knife but they are close enough and at the rate I lose them I'm quite happy sacrificing that small amount of extra quality
  7. I am looking at purchasing some knives off ebay and I remember reading somewhere you need some type of license to import/order knives online. Is this information correct or am I way off (I hope I am because I don't want to pay for more licences....) Thanks for your knowledge once again, Paul. ps. these are two that I am looking at. Just want some cheapish knifes to take hunting that I won't be to stressed about if I lose. I have plenty of folding knives but this time I'm after a fixed blade for a change. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280544132700&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_10024wt_1137 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220649565241&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_601wt_1137
  8. lol sounds like I've been looking in all the wrong places
  9. Thanks Bish, I didn't think of checking Bunnings. I had a look at Kmart after dinner and they did have CR123A labels up but they were sold out, I might check a different one tomorrow. My coles had know idea about them lol, maybe I'll try a different one of those too
  10. Hm if only they were in Vic. Still they are much closer if i need to get another lot posted. Im not impressed with the 3 week postage time from Hong Kong.
  11. Yeh I have seen plenty on Ebay, I already have some in the post. I was after somewhere local because I wanted to take it out on the weekend and they wont arrive by then
  12. Just called up battery world in lilydale and they dont have the 18650 or cr123a in stock Jaycar in Ringwood has never even heard of 18650 batteries but did have non rechargable cr123a in stock, at a small price of $40 for two cells Its looking like I might have to wait for my international order to arrive next week..
  13. Honestly I'd never even heard of them There's a battery world in lilydale according to google, i reckon that would have to have them. I'll give them a call now. Thanks for that Len, my google searches for a 18650 battery was bringing up nothing. Well it was bringing up some things but mostly to do with laptop batteries... Paul
  14. Like a lot of other people, after reading through all the threads on these LED torches I decided I had to try one out. I ordered the same setup as fenring, the Eagletech and it arrived promptly the next week (last week). The battery charger and US to AUS plug adaptor I ordered also arrived mid last week. Unfortunatly it turns out dealextreme didnt have the batteries I ordered in stock at the time and only posted them yesterday. So in short, I'm being impatient waiting for the batteries and just want to try out the torch that's been sitting on my table for a week. Anyone know a place in Melbourne/store chain that has these batteries for a reasonable price? I've tried supermarkets with no luck and apparently the local D*ck Smith doesn't have them either. Paul. edit: The torch can also run on 2x CR123A batteries, but I would prefer the 18650.
  15. It sounds like the Lightforce 170 or maybe 140 is the way to go, I'll ust have to have a look around and try to find a good price. It'l be great having an on/off switch on my spotty again, I bypassed mine after the switch broke about a year ago lol You've got me very interested in those scope mount LED lights too Think I might have to grab one of those when I have the cash Thanks for the advice
