Hey guys ,just after a bit of advice/ feedback. Worn the harness twice, first time I noticed it was a lot warmer than I thought it would be, makes it hard to use the top cross strap on the backpack and I normally wear my rifle slung diagonally across my chest . Not as quiet as I imagined, but I guess a few more uses I'll work it out. Second time I didn't take the backpack, a lot lighter run but didn't have my creature comforts, pillow, water , rangefinder, head lamp knife , spare binos, wind indicator etc. hs Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

Looking for recommendations on a harness, I was going to grab one of the Hunter element ones, maybe magnum size,but did read somewhere that they felt a little flimsy. Like to probably be able to put rangefinder and wind puffer in too mainly if I take the bow out. Great to see all the different responses and see a bit of discussion . As we know specific binos suit specific occasions, hard to find a pair that covers most. I did try a few out that were around, Waldo, a pair of 6 x 32, and they were great , I was surprised how clear they were but wonder their low light performance and I'm chasing a bit more mag. Also a couple of pairs of 10 x 42's quite some difference in weight between them. Those rangefinding ones are nice, a bit $$$ for me . I just picked up a rangefinder mainly for the bow, but it has been handy to check some distances I've been guessing .Other than that the 06 is sighted at about 200m so I just point and shoot, if I have time to think I may hold over or under. In the end I pick up a pair of Athlon midas G2 UHD 10 x50. Mid range price , glass maybe similar or a bit better than vortex vipers. I'll send the damaged 8 x 42 Bushnell legend ultra hd's back to test out there bulletproof warranty, if they fix them they'll make a good back up or ones to carry. The old bino question gets thrown up every now and then. I've got two semi busted binos 8x and 10x both 42's so was going to grab a new pair. My 8x are the best low light but the 10x can just see a bit more detail and are probably better suit to most of my glassing. So I was going to get 10 x 42 but last minute thought why not 10 x 50 to gain a little bit low light capability. That first and last 10 mins is when I see 90% of the deer Most of my hunts seem to be stalk into a spot and sit and wait , the little bit of extra weight I probably won't notice just sitting there. Those are decent bino and at a good price, the lifetime warranty is pretty good. As for rangefinder I just picked up a leupold fulldraw, I was tossing up between a leupold or vortex either would of been fine, the fulldraw just came up first on a buy swap sell site. Having fully multi coated lens is handy for low light conditions. I picked mine up mainly for bow hunting but it was fun to take out with the rifle just to see how good my guessing has been and now I know rough distances from point a to point be around the place. I don't take the rangefinder with me anymore ,the 3006 sighted in to 200m ,just point and shoot the distance I hunt. If hunting longer distances it would be an essential bit of kit. I'd be looking for a pattern that breaks up your outline, a lot of those fancy patterns look good in the shop or walking down the street if that's your thing but you can just turn into one big blob out in the bush and the deer will spot your human upright shape still. If you scan a few posts on AH you will notice some take deer wearing whatever. Its more about slowing your movements and to be aware of the situation your in. If you do stop to glass, try and be behind something or slowly crouch down,etc. I wear an asat 3d top, hood/vale and gloves . hs Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

Quality glass is great and I'd love to justify it, but sometimes it's not $1000 better. The last light argument,Legal shooting times are half hour before and after sunrise/set. Those are not the last few minutes of light. Mid priced/quality glass would get the job done. Rifle scope and binos should have similar glass or you can see them in the binos and Jack sh#t when you look through your scope. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

Shhesh, I'm budget class[emoji30] . Slightly off topic. Are the bino harnesses worth it? For keeping em safe. I never put lens covers on my scope let alone binos. Most of the time my binos ride on the passenger seat or dash and then around my neck on the strap that came with them. I have never been hunting with anyone ever so havent had a chance to suss their gear.Like alot things you don't know what you been missing until you get one. So do you strap up? I'm not that good at looking after my binos and am always using them so if I brougjt a $$$ pair I'd be to scared to pull them out in fear I'll wreak them. Rangefinder option ? Deer are a pretty big target , you can pretty much point and shoot at anything inside 300m, I hold a little high if stretching the 06 legs but never off fur. For me its a compromise , I'm sure the glass is great in the leading brands and I'd love a paur but cant justify it. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

I have two pairs of bushnells 10 x 42 and 8x 42. My 8x hang around my neck , much better glass. If I sit up somewhere for awhile I'll pull the 10x out of the pack, with decent light you can see a whole lot more with 10x but as the light fades I slip em back in the pack and go back to my trusty 8x. They'll out see my scope in low light which cost a lot more. If I had a choice and glass was equal in both I'd go the 10x"s

Yep. I'm always swapping them too. Had them in different cams before as well. Veiwing them on different computers too. Main problem is I usually have a couple in the coin pocket in my pants and the6 go through the wash. But now even with new batteries my stealthcam won't turn on.
