Just to add a side bit I hunt nsw s/f's mostly alone so have a uhf but also just bought an epirb for the real (life/death)emergencies. And carry that whenever I'm out in the bush. Better than relying on having radio reception.

+1
very basic, but does the job if waylaid and at a reasonably low cost. Have used it in several very hilly NSW SF's and never had a reception problem.
But what you buy will depend on what you want from it usage wise.

Just ordered a pair of Irish Setter Cedar Creek boots from Cabelas $166 AU including delivery. A mate of mine has worn them for years and swears buy them. At that price I cant go wrong, I hope.

Sticking with this theme but just a couple of add on questions.
Do you guys use a harness for your binos or just the normal shoulder strap?
Are there any preferences?
When out hunting do you carry the case with you or leave at the camp?
