  1. I've got a alaska guide creations, a bushbuck bino rig and a bushnell trophy collector bino holder?? i think you would call it. If i'm in big country where i'm set up glassing more than stalking i take the alaska guide's but if i'm stalking the bushnell gets taken for ease of use. i'm running 10x42's if that helps.
  2. Ive got a exo k2 5500, i bought it 3-4 years ago when they were not massive and cost me $800 by memory shipped over. i looked at the k3 the other day and to replace mine was like $1400 i think. from what i've done with mine and still keep doing on a weekly basis, I would pay that for it. I read a comment the other day that kifaru have some good packs coming through, without the meat shelf(very rarely do we take a whole sambar out of the woods in a backpack) has anyone mentioned the mystery ranch metcalf? or the stoney creek bulla 60?
  3. 10x50 might be heavy and not fit in some bino harness's. would a better quality 10x42 do the same ie swaro, lieca, zeiss, steiner maybe? not sure on budget but could be a option better quality over bigger size?
  4. G'day Ive had the merrel moab 2 in a mid, they were a great shoe, i wouldn't call them a boot but. Pro's very lightweight and fairly waterproof Cons sythentic made and non leather so blackberrys and the like tore them up also i found they were a hard/stiff sole so they hurt after a big day in the hills. I run the lowa gtx ranger 3 now and cant complain, there a leather boot that has plenty of ankle support witch i need and are fully waterproof. Cons heavy at a kilo a boot Pros great support for ankles, water proof and really comfy I also have just got some saloman radiant gtx for hiking and if its just a quick poke around a gully or checking trial cams there what i use there lightweight and comfy but once again non leather so get torn up pretty easy The merrel and saloman were both around the 200-250 mark and the lowas were 550. i've had the lowas for 2 years now and have put them through hell and they are still going strong. But for the price of one lowa you can have two pairs of the others.
  5. i bought a cheap under blanket of ebay for my hennesy hammock, i used it over summer without it and woke up cold in the middle of the night, so i chucked it on and made a bit of difference but not a whole lot. a proper under quilt would be the way to go. I thought being summer i would be fine with just the hammock but i was wrong. I'm looking at updating my sleeping bag for backpack hunts atm, ive been looking at the stoney creek black stag 800 or the sea to summit spark 3. ill be using a tent or bivvy with a fly/shelter
  6. Are you still going to use them with your hammock?, you will need a good under quilt if you are. i think its the loft that makes the bag so get the most you can afford and you can always use a liner and sleep in fleece or thermals to help beef it up.
  7. G'day lads If anyone is looking at new hunting/hiking boots, anaconda have a few of the salomon shoes on sale atm. i got a pair of the x radiant mid gtx for $180 from $260. there half the weight of my lowas and half the price. they seem fairly well made, i havn't had em out yet but ill report back after a few trips.
  8. Ah the old twig trick haha ive done the same thing, a little branch sets the cam off 1000 times and you get two pictures of a deer?
  9. I didn't check mine for 6 months and had 300 photos and still full battery. as seb said 8 batteries
  10. i don't think you will be dissapointed at that price.
  11. ive had 3 ebay jobs and still have 2. 1 is in permanant use in a secret location that i check every now and then, due to the effort to get there. there not the worst or the best but they do the job for i think i paid $75, few pics to show quality
  12. Whats that in cans? and how many bags of ice does it take?
  13. Found these in the cupboard, same waist cinch no zips, only two front pockets and a dry arse patch, swandri made, i think they came in a fleece pack
  14. I 2nd that notion, stoney creek or swazi shorts and if its a touch cold chuck the robin hoods on and your laughing Shorts and gaiters is a good combo, ill be running snake proof gaiters from now on
