Hello from UK. Looking at organising a trip to Australia in next year and thought this would be a good place to gain some knowledge about hunting in Australia. Cheers

    Hi guys,

My names Rich and I'm from Pakenham. I'm interested in deer hunting and in fact I'm going for a hunt this weekend. I enjoy just walking around the forest and watching and listening, even if I don't get a deer. My hunting is for the meat I'm not a trophy hunter. Looking to meet people with similar thinking etc. Always keen to listen and learn from others with more experience.

    Cheers,

    Rich

What area do you hunt for deer, Rich

Thanks wl. It's hard as I have not tried on the black wolf ones yet but leaning towards them. Will try before I buy though. Most of my hunting is day trips on the reds but as I want to get back into the sambar I have to travel so want to make the most of the time there and get into some good areas. I will still do camping at the 4x4 but want to be geared up to get in for a few nights. I'd be thinking 3 nights is what I'm aiming for.

Thanks. Will do. Starting from scratch with the hiking gear could add up I'm thinking.

Anaconda price beat by 10% on snowys, got my black wolf sierra bloody cheap as snowys had it on 60% off sale. I did the same with the black wolf tent

do abit of home work and you can save a fair amount by price beating

I can certainly see why, I'm pretty much over running into grumpy blokes on the trails winging about hunting in "their spot" :P I'm almost sorted on the gear side, just need to grab a water purification rig, might ditch my recent purchase of a Magellan eXplorist 610 for something, uh, a little more usable? The touch screen is pretty bad and it doesn't seem to want to load the Topo's when viewing at larger scales... $500 down the drain. Going to grab a Moroka 30 75lt pack when the coins allow it. Might even grab a collapsible rod to catch some dinner, although I do enjoy the freeze dried meals somewhat. I just love the solitude, no place like the mountains.
