    Knife Making

Hey all I am looking into making some knives after I finally get my shed built. At present I have nothing in the way of handyman tools to put in the shed and was just wondering if anyone can give a complete amateur some advice on what I will need to make some knives. I am planning on getting a wood lathe as well. Also if anyone can direct me to a good book or site on how to start making knives it would be very much appreciated Cheers
  2. One of the most important things I have found is having decent quality waterproof boots with thermal socks. I don't know about other people but if my feet are cold the rest of me is cold, and the feet are the easiest area to get cold. While I agree with the "more layers the better theory" some times this is not practical as the more layers you have on the more restricted your movements become which can be a hindrance when stalking.
  3. Does the WF-008 come with the mounts to mount it onto the scope???
  4. from memory I thought LEDs usually last around 50000 hours. Of course this is your run of the mill LEDs and not the high power ones in these torches. But given the general make up of how a LED works I did not think there would be anything drastic in the change with the high powered ones. Maybe a 25% decrease in time but not just 300 hours. Maybe someone more enlightened on the topic can clarify for us both EDIT: OK...I have just been looking into things and could not find a definite answer. I did look at the specs of a Dive torch I have. It says it has a burn in time of 30 hours but it also says the LEDs used in it will last for around 10000 hours. So there is a definite difference between LED life and LED Burn In Here is the URL for my dive torch with the specs My link 2nd EDIT: OK I have pulled out the instruction manual for my dive torch and it states "Princeton Tec calculates total burn time as the time it takes for the light source to produce a minimum of 0.25 lux at 2 meters. 0.25 lux is about the equivalent of a full moon on a clear night" Not sure what that means exactly but getting a little closer to a proper definition
  5. Hey all I am new to the forum. Been hunting all my life and even worked professionally as shooter for 2 years with FEA and Gunns. I live down in Hobart and am very keen to get out and do some more shooting real soon. Regards Flawed
