  1. Ordered mounts from Deals Direct on 17th December and received an email saying they were shipped on the 30th December, hopefully they they will turn up this week. Solar force torch and gear i also ordered on 17th December and they where delivered on 3rd January. that was a good turnaround considering chrissy was in the middle i thought.
  2. Quick update, the guys from solar force are sending me out a new charger at no cost no questions asked! now thats the kindoff service i like and will make me go back to them for another purchase down the track. still no mounts though from deals direct, that order is taking its sweet time...
  3. cheers mate, Yeah the battery fed from the back is a good fit and works well, i have the L2T body just the short one for now. Regarding the charger the guys from solar force replied back to me and said to run batteries flat and try again and if the charger still acts strangely they will send a replacement so good to know, will do that tonight. hopefully my mounts will turn up today or tomorrow too!
  4. Hi guys it arrived yesterday, guess the post was a little busy during christmas. the mounts still havent arrived yet but i received and email on friday saying they where dispatched then so should only be another day or two b4 they arrive. I had a couple of concerns with the unit, first one was if i insert the battery from the lens end and then screw the lens on it wont work unless i unscrew the lens about 6 rotations and then it will work. If i screw the lens on and then insert the battery from the switch end and screw that on it works as expected, it must just not quite seat right if going about it from the other end, i know its only minor but i like things to work as expected The charger unit i am also not sure about as there are no instructions regarding the display lights when charging. When i put the batteries in to charge they light up red which is to be expected but then they switch of after a minute for about 10 secs and then come on for about 10 secs and then off for about 10 secs etc etc. i at first thought that was because they where charged but i notice there is a flicker of green when they switch of so i would assume the lights should turn green when fully charged. Do any of you guys have the solar force charger and if you do is mine working as expected? cant find my meter either so couldnt check that but will look for it again tonight. have emailed them a query but might not get an answer for a day or two. cheers Rowes
  5. Order is placed woohoo!! sales team was really helpfull too. I really wanted the ready to go charger kit that included the car charger but the international charger kit didnt have one so i emailed them a query about it and they said they would happily throw in the AUS power point adapter for free. Worth asking sometimes aye. will post a couple of pics when it arrives and i get it mounted up. cheers for help guys. Rowes
  6. Hi Guys thanks for the info put forward on the other threads relating to riflemounted torches. Am ready to place my order with santa but just wanted to check if the setup i am choosing has any obvious flaws in it or if i am missing anything in the order. It is to go primarily on my .223 which has a 6X18X40 on it. Torch - Solarforce Masterpeice Pro-1 Moster Thrower Battery Charger and 2 X 18650 And Torch Mounts (thanks for links fenring) Mount1 Mount2 Anything else i would be needing? Would this be a suitable setup? any recommendations would be appreciated Cheers Rowes
  7. Cheers for the posts guys, i am looking for one for christmas but am having a hard time deciding on what to go for, your info helps
  8. Thanks for the tip pazzo, yeah i nearly went for the next one up with 5 waypoints and then nearly a step further again with a garmin etrex but after sleeping on it came back down to the original thought process of keeping it really basic as a temporary one. other wise it would just take longer to save for the higher end one.
  9. Cheers Duncs. I dont go anywhere at the moment that i couldn't get out to a road at least after a good hike and i make sure i know what lies in each direction b4 i go and i always have a printed map and my trusty compass. its more of an additional backup till such a time as i can get something of with a load more features. good to be aware of the button issues too cheers.
  10. ordered the bushnell backtracker... gotta stick to original plan and save for quality gps. this should keep me out of trouble in the mean time
  11. Cheers guys, as a minimum i think i will go for the backtracker, Fireman_DJ, why did you go and do that lol, now i am wondering if the wife will notice just that 'little bit more' gone from the account... have had a look at the etrex and am looking at this one (just quietly) Etrex GPS, it would be right at the top end of the budget though because i only just put in an order for a foxpro spitfire... only reason why i am getting away with this little gps as well is because the wife is a photographer and she needed some new equipment so i kinda slipped those in while agreeing she would really benefit from her new gear i just cant push it to far
  12. Hi all, Am saving up for a good quality GPS unit but in the mean time was thinking about grabbing one of these for 60$ for that extra piece of mind when out wandering about. Does anybody use one? Bushnell Backtracker Cheers Rowes
