  1. perfect place for foxes and rabbits too I hear, welcome to the forum
  2. lightforce are good but... i have seen the plastic handle break the lenses get scratched badly, that then affects light output as its not clear anymore... and to buy a new reflector housing(because you cant get the lense seperately) costs nearly as much as buying a new light, so your better off buying another one the poms complain about them not being good in the wiring department, they do a lot of walking with them, i havent had that problem but i do more spotlighting from the ute type of thing rather then walking k's and k's the cig lighter ones are a waste of time IMO better to get the ally clips I have 4 of em, 1 x 170, 1 x 170 scope moutned and 2 x 240s, i'll probably be up for antoher 240 in the near future as this lense is once again not that flash buying a clear plastic cover is good, protects the lense and only costs about $30... but the light reflects back onto you, eg glare... so you need to paint the sides of the lense covers black or tape it with something that stops the light glare
  3. the powabeam 11inch pro pisses on the lightforce, i have both and the 11 incher is much brighter having said that if u are ever going to take it off and use it walking, i'd go the lightforce problem i have with lightforce is the lense gets scratched(which means progressively crapper light) and to get a replacement u end up spending nearly the same as to buy a whole new unit - this is why i now have 2 240 blitz if they fixed the problem of not been able to just buy the plastic lense, then it would be better
  4. hi all, been on here for ages but may as well introduce myself im a committee member of the Australian pig doggers and hunters association, live around perth and mostly hunt smaller game. Do a bit of rabbit work for local areas, people ring me up and ask me to control them. have a variety of rifles, but have to admit watching a dog work is what i like best
  5. i have a uniden unit, its not a flash one, but will do what i require of it, which is basically talk car to car, or to truckies when i want to overtake them etc
  6. agree with lakey, the red one is alright, in my experience you can keep the light on a fox when calling it in most of the time, and it doesnt seem to bother them, but it makes locating stuff hard, especially if you are driving
  7. them nighteaters must be good, but there is no way i can justify $800 for a light, i'd want one of them HID lights for that
  8. bullcat, your choice is either a powabeam, or lightforce then they both have their pros and cons i have a 11in powabeam here, it is the brightest light ive seen to date, pisses on my lightforce lights, and i have 4 of them. the reason i have 4 is because your better off buying a new unit then replacing the clear lense when they get too scratched, as they nearly cost the same lightforce lenses scratch, and with the scratches yoru light quality drops, and after a year of use you will notice i havent used the powabeam heaps, so havent found any niggling bits about it yet, other then its big, and driving a long distance with it woudl be painful due to wind resistance.
  9. dexter russel, boner and skinner, worth their weight in gold good for bunnies up to big roos on tags
  10. got a powabeam deluxe here, its a good setup, sturdy, and u can replace the switch easy enough if you had to. There is a few small things they could do to make it a bit neater, but overall good
  11. ive got a canon s2is, the model before, awesome camera
  12. where abouts do you order them from mate?
  13. keen on any info you can give me mate, pm me or for the benefit of all put up on here ive had one 170 lightforce lense warp from heat, but i will say it was quite a few years old(7 or so) and one email to lightforce and they replaced the whole cover.
  14. good stuff Dave, got it today, had a quick skim through it, very well done indeed mate no doubt will spend the next 3 months reading each article multiple times
  15. thats what i went and got to, had to have a boning knife neway and that is what a few blokes said they use, as it turned out it was a good buy, cos i never ended up getting the pig dog i was gonna get boning knives are cheaper then the custom stickers to
