    Knife Care

I use an oil called "Choji" it's been used by samurai for centuries on their swords its basically top quality mineral oil, with a small amount of chive oil for fragrance (so the samurais wives wouldnt use it mistakenly in cooking) you can buy 50mL bottles (or bigger) off ebay, 50mL's should last you a few years (use sparingly, a thin film is all it needs)
  2. thats a nice looking knife mate, i see its made in seki, japan a very good choice for quality knife steel

    What Knife?

you can get really good deals off ebay if you search for them, thats where ive gotten all mine from most of the major (quality) knife manufacturers knives can be found on ebay fixed blade knives are still able to be imported without a permit, i've never had a problem getting them (8 so far) i'd recommend these - http://www.fallkniven.com/en http://www.topsknives.com/ http://www.eseeknives.com/index2.htm http://www.ontarioknife.com/catalog these companies produce good quality knives at reasonable prices, and most are warranted for life... hope this helps
  6. small, but not impossible... have a look at wot some target archers can do with their $5000 target bows
  7. for my chisel-grind blades, i use a small hand sharpener from ebay, $10. it has two tungsten carbide blades in a v @ 20 degrees for forming the main angle then on opposite side it has two ceramic rods in a v for a nice smooth sharp finish its use depends on what angle your knife blade has been cut at as the sharpener blades are non adjustable for my convex-grind blades, i use a double sided leather strop and two stropping compounds - course and fine ($50 total off ebay) this lets me attain the right angle by hand (usually about 15-20 degrees) this way can take ages to get a knife sharp, but i can get a RAZOR edge on a 6mm thick camping knife (fallkniven s1) for your info - drag the knife along the leather, spine first, so you dont cut the leather to pieces if u want more info on this ask away...

  10. i don't know of any custom sheath makers in sydney but searching google with "custom leather knife sheaths" returned many, many results in the usa, and with the exchange rate the way it is, this would be a financially viable alternative... usa has some of the best leather fabricators in the world... also search through ebay with a 'worldwide' search of 'custom leather sheath' and you may find something that somebody has already made that will fit your particular knife... there are also some aussie blokes who make very nice stuff from kangaroo leather and also croc skin looks bloody nice too, aussie made sheaths are rather expensive, but look a lot better... sorry i cant give you any specific names or details...
  11. Hey fellow hunters, finally getting around to organising my firearms license for hunting and vermin control. I'll be putting a post up in the appropriate area about how to go about the abovementioned subject Thanks!
