  1. Hi farmgirl I run the Inmarsat satellite phone, very basic and easy to use. Make calls and send texts like back on the old 3310 Nokia. Just pop the aerial until it picks up reception and away you go. Very good bit of gear for peace of mind when in remote areas or hunting alone! I know of a new one for sale for $350 my mate is selling never used. Not a mark on it all in its original box. Can pass on his number if you are interested.

  2. Hey fellow hunters. My names danny. Im from the parramatta region on nsw. Have always had a passion for firearms, knife collection, fishing, camping and four wheel driving. Im a self employed electrician by trade and try find time between work and family to get out and explore what australia has to offer. Currently in the market to buy a tikka ctr in a 308. A tikka lite in 223, a 22lr and a shotgun to add to my safe. Would love to meet new friends who have similar interests to my self. Also if anyone would happen to require help in eliminating pests id be more than happy to help offering both pest eradication and electrical help [emoji106]

Welcome fellas! Get amongst the discussions! Hopefully see some reports from yas in the near future!
  3. My current best boots are Rockys, got them from Bass Pro. Have been pretty good for about 4 years but now not waterproof. Very light which suits me. Just looked at the label...Made in China.

    Grant.

Thats the problem these days everything is made there. Last thing I want is the sole peeling off half way through a hunt!
  4. Gday all,

After some hunters feedback on the Rocky boots. In particular the 'Brute' boot. Looks good for what I want, climbing mountains gullies rocks and high wet grass.

My feet are holding me back from getting a good hunt in so I need to ditch the old redbacks and invest in something good.

  5. Hi Coily,

    Thanks for the welcome.

No shooting of the cattle here, even the big scrubbers are money, if they can get them into the yards that is.

Camels, horses and wild dogs are the target out here.

    Cheers!

Hi welcome to AH , Is there still much money in the camel trade, I had a mate shooting them over there for dog food processor a while back, lost contact with him tho.
  6. Hi. My names Danny. Just going through the process of obtaining a licence and firearm and trying to learn as much as possible. Finding it all extremely interesting, especially the ballistics stuff.

I'm in brisbane and work in mining.

welcome Danny few experienced blokes on here can learn some stuff off. Have you checked out Belmont range in brissy?

  7. Yeah cheers I'll have to check out the pig section. I still have no idea what gun I wonna get first off, there's so many options! Hopefully all you guys can help me narrow it down. Hunting mates wild be awesome, I don't really have any at the moment and no access to properties near my place, my closest is 300kms away and the other is like 1000kms!

Can't beat the good old 30.30 for pig shooting, it's my go to calibre it's yet to let me down. Proper shot placement and you have no worries.

300kms is pretty good, is that south ? North? Plenty of pigs up around there!

  8. Hi guys! I'm a 24yo North Qld girl originally from townsville, now living down near proserpine. I'm a diesel mechanic, i was raised on a lychee farm and I love to hunt pretty much anything that's available (but my favorite is pigs!) My preferred method is guns although I dont actually own any yet, license application is in, been using my dad's guns since I was little. I know how to use my dad's guns but I don't really know much about other types, calibers, optics, reloading, etc so I'm hoping to learn from the discussions on here and maybe ask some of my questions :-)

Welcome kamanda, there's a good sub section with plenty of pig shooting activity. Enjoy the site, I'm sure you'll get plenty of info here, hopefully even some hunting mates. Cheers

  9. G'day all! I've been doing a bit of research about hunting pigs and I've come across a couple of bait recipes which includes corn and jelly etc... I was wondering if anyone has tried these before and how successful have you been.

Also, just wondering if uncooked bread dough is useful to attract the porkers? Cheers,

    Bear

Pile up some road kill mate, much cheaper..

  10. I will most likely start the pestering questions of what has probably been asked a hundred times already, so I will appologise up front and it its too much just tell me to POQ

    Cheers Glen

G'day glen, it's a hunting forum mate shoot away! A fella here at work came from Isa about 3 year ago, said its very hard getting on anywhere around there! But put in the leg work you never know! Goodluck, welcome back to the wonderful world of hunting!!
