  1. Ooh whats that/ A Tahr looking left...BANG!
  2. I wear my pants over my boots and there isnt a water prob. I dont have a problem with burrs in the sambar country. The only pair of gaiters that I have ever worn I bought brand new and took them hunting....stuffed them up a hollow log a mile from the truck in NZ..they are still there....hated them.
  3. My favourite fleece pants. I have had a think about it and reckon they are around 12 years old or more. They are torn and full of holes and the fleece has worn thin but are still in use. I wore them today when I filmed that hind and the last two weeks before. Note the waist cinch, best ever. Three zippers are all good too.
  4. The swearing going through the berries negates that, this time of year with the slitherers out isnt much chop either. Any drill type material is indeed a scratchy noisy pita. I have shot or photographed deer wearing just about every sort of strides material but imo fleece is the best all rounder. I have had mates come out from Europe that wore the best of the best and very expensive Euro hunting strides but they are ing terrible for our bush...keeps them warm and dry ....and the deer away too.
  5. I bought a HT box pack and was underwhelmed by the thinness of the fleece, the pants were too small so a mates kid got them and the rest of the stuff is only adequate imo. Dunno if they are the same as yours but the camo is the same colour/pattern as them. Those pants are $98 shipped to Aus.
  6. I have HE,SC and RL all are guilty but that deal is a cheap one
  7. If you are like me then you would be sick of the offerings of hunting fleece pants (the best imo) for stalking, whether they be camo or greens of which I have both. They fail in that many dont have belt loops and most have pajama type cord drawstrings....erk erk erk! POX POX POX! And often with no fly either. I have a pair of camo Ridgeline pants with ZIPPER pockets and an integral webbing belt sewn in with click together fastener. It is the best method of keeping your pants up and I am waiting on manufacturers to start offering the same. The Ridgeline`s are not made anymore apparently and thats a pity as I would buy straight away. On another rant I bought two Swazi fleece tops in a sell out deal direct from NZ..and don`t have one ing pocket of any sort between them...what a ing joke.
  8. I`ve done business with the skipper myself. I may have done a heads up on them...sort of think so.
  9. I paid top dollar for a LL and it stuffed up in about a year. The wires in them are about as thick as a hair and are shit. The components are ordinary imo . I will never have another LL Although it hasnt the light output my Aldi $5 bucker is still going strong after 8 years! I cant see anyone going to put up $700 for a head torch? (with freight) https://ledlenser.com.au/collections/headlamps/products/xeo19r
  10. Yes a PLB is a super investment for sure. I wouldn't say that they are pricey especially with what they offer if a busted ankle stops you from walking out. Ten years @ under $30 a year is almost a must if one is doing solo`s.
  11. I reckon its pretty well shared out in my original post Pooey. I supply the blades and you do the work for your own one blah blah. A fine kerf saw is needed along with some sort of elec sander/finisher. and drill blah blah. Simple enough but a degree of patience and skill is still required. I wasnt after any masterpieces, just plain old butcher knives to do the deer job with. PM coming.
  12. Nah I just dont have the patience for that sort of stuff. I have looked at Knife suppliers for years and know I can get a full kit for the same blades for $5 extra . Assemble and bingo. My input in the making is that I shot the deer that supplied the antlers, that is enough for lazy me ha ha.
  13. Long been a fan of GR knives,no nonsense,no fuss knives. I have four well I lost my belt blade recently (1st pic) and I am down to three sheep skinner patterns. Imo the best ever for skinning big deer. .Any####nway I was going to order several blade blanks and was wondering if there are any "hands on" members that would scale and pin for me. I have HEAPS of antlers to choose from for scales etc and would do a deal of " you do four and keep one " etc or I will give you a whole sambar ha ha I supply and you finish....also have olive wood,bull-oak and red gum blocks as in pics. They have been air dried and seasoned for five + years from memory. First blade is a real all rounder for your hunting, the second knife is a very old GR S/skinner that`s done the job for so many years now. It was antler handled by a mate maybe 25 years ago and is a bit smooth now.
  14. Hoy,what if he wants to get an arse end in as well ha ha.
  15. I had a look and if you get what you see in the pics the straps look pretty good to me. I thought about buying four of them for grand kids etc BUT will wait for your appraisal or see it in the flesh myself when you get yours. If they can build a half decent quality for those prices its GOODBYE all the rest.
  16. EFFN too right,I have a brand new one here that was stitched the same and it effed up after 2 or 3 runs. Not being able to see it in the flesh pre ordering can be a problem. The rest of the pack is as good as but that stitching is abysmal....wtf were they thinking! Cheap shit like that has no place in the bush at all.
  17. I re counted and have 4 CH tripods laying about ,I have to say that they are better than NO tripod at all but they do suffer from the specs of build quality and the plastics will eventually harden and snap when used heaps. BOCO is often trotted out for just about everything these days.

  19. I carted the big Moroka 30`s into NZ`s South Island HD Tahr a few times and was overall impressed as to the thought that had gone into them. Very tough too. Sold mine last year for $300 only due to age/injury basically stopping me doing those type of trips again.
  20. Manfrotto make quality gear, mine are daily carries (one is) and has copped a bashing in the scrub and still holds up.
  21. big heavy older pro Manfrotto with 15x56 Swaro`s I use a smaller manfrotto for other jobs there are three others here that are not worth two knobs of goat shit...CH made.
  22. Those Mavens will serve you well, look after them and dont drop them. Got a good harness? If not get one...pref (imo) unfettered by being in a bag right when you want to use them......like stupid scope caps on a hunting rifle WHEN stalking
  23. Just read an article on them in the SSAA mag and they are at $1900 a pretty good deal at that price imo. In fact compared to the big three competitors its an awesome price. https://www.all4shooters.com/en/hunting/optics/kahles-helia-rangefinder-binoculars/
