  1. Def rate the Bino rig from Moroka30. Holds my 10x42 Binos in the main compartment which also holds my phone, ammo and other bits n pcs. Front pouch holds the rangefinder and the bottom pounch usually holds spare batteries and head lamp etc. Has small mesh pocket at front for windcheck powder bottle. I also added the Rino UHF holder and storage pouch for my PLB. Pros: -Holds a heap of stuff or can be basic and added pouches removed for smaller set up. - Carries well and doesn't get in the way of back pack straps etc - I run the safari sling and it doesn't hinder that. I anything holds the rifle out of the way of you legs. -I don't use a bow but have herd you can still draw comfortably. Cons: -2yrs on and constant rubbing on from rifle worn in Safari sling style has worn a small hole in the pouch holding the Range finder. Not a huge drama where the hole is. -Not 100% waterproof. A decent down fall will probably find water getting in the zips maybe? Water pools on range finder pouch. Easy fix, I use a shower cap which hooks over the whole rig. 2. Get them asap and wear them in mate[emoji106] Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  3. I have tried a few stiff leather type boots and just don't like them. My Lowa Rangers are now my camp boots. They are to heavy and I find I cant feel sticks under foot which results in a noisy stalk. I have found I prefer a flexible light boot. That can flex as I stalk. The boots I have been wearing for the last couple years has been Inov8 Roclite 325. I paid over $200 for them and can't recommend them enough. They are waterproof Goretex and are fairly hard wearing. I push through blackberries and have yet to pierce the seal. The grip is amazing on wet rocks, mud and dry terrain. I see they have come down in price as they have a new model out now. The only thing I think they might lack on is warmth in the snow as I haven't tested them in snow yet. Warm socks or foot warmers might help with that. Matched with my waterproof pants and Sea to summit gaiters I can punch through knee deep water and not get water in them. That's my 5cents anyways. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  4. Welcome mate, how's your challenge coming along? Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  5. I have brought cheap bags before and have frozen my butt off. I just bit the bullet and brought Duck down bag. Mont Zodiak 700 from Bogong over Christmas. Good for -10 comfortable -23 Extreme. Was on special for $399. Very light and compact also. Looking forward to testing it out. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  6. I have a 200Lt Evakool, slides in the back of my Ute perfectly. Would fit x2 Sambar Qautered. Four Hind legs, four shoulders and back straps. Plus a few bottles of ice water through out. Likely I have a 70Lt Drawer fridge for the cans[emoji108] Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  7. Hey mate, sounds like your on the money. It takes a few trips to get your kit down pat. I'm sure the fire thing won't be a problem at this time of year but pays to check. Also it gets bloody cold out there so hopefully your sleeping bag is well rated. Not sure how good the reception will be where you are going? In case of an emergency it pays to have backup battery pack to keep your phone charged. And if the reception is poor or nothing it pays to have a personal locating beacon with you. Myself, I always take a personal location beacon. They can be a little pricy but could be the difference between being found and not if the shit hits the fan. A worthy investment, especially if you are doing it often. I also carry a uhf radio. Binoculars are a must also. Take your time, these Sambar have big ears and will move off quicker and quieter than you can imagine. Glass through the scrub as far as you can then move and repeat. Good luck out there and be safe. 8. Just did a quick search. They weren't in Aust a couple years ago when I got mine but it looks like they are now.https://www.mitchellsadventure.com/product/vulcan-cyclops-2/hvg127.aspx?gclid=Cj0KCQjw753rBRCVARIsANe3o456rQwUPaynbyS7UZAi6TtSDM53DShRxhdhnQd1bdBuxhbaA48FJBsaAspQEALw_wcB Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  9. That pack has a strong aluminum internal frame. Super comfy padding on waist and shoulder straps. The over sized buckles and zips take a beating. Also great for people with longer torsos. Cheers Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  10. If you can get your hands on a "Bergus Vulcan Cyclops 2" Russian military issue. I got it off Gumtree for $200. What a pack! Not to many bells and whistles but everything you would need. Day pack or multi day trips 90lt main compartmt, 10lt top storage and two removable 10lt pockets which zip together to make small day pack. First pic is it compact as day pack. Next pic is with x2 10lt side bags zipped on. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  11. Spika have some great looking day packs. Pro Hunter range. Under $200 I think. Rifle carrying options and Blaze rain cover built in. I don't have one personally as my 120lt pack straps right down so I take that. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  12. I was wondering the same. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  13. It's good up to 500m with a solid target. Havent figured out the fancy stuff it does with shooting angles etc Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  14. A year ago id say. Yeah mate, I'm sure its the only colour. It's their own camo design. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  15. Very handy mate. Even fits with the chunky AA batt pack on. Is a smoother fit with the Lithium batt though. Has a handy hide away for the Velcro flap when it isn't in use. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  16. Moroka30 for me[emoji108] combo with the Rino radio holder and zip up pouch Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  17. Ahh yeah, tissues are for crying because I followed the deer sign to the bottom of the gully[emoji26][emoji1787] Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  18. I've got the Moroka30 bino carrier. I wear it with its harness system. Easy to unclip at all for points and light enough that you cant feel it under your backpack straps. Also comes with clips if you want to incorporate it into your pack straps. I haven't needed them. The main pocket is held closed with strong magnets. Main compartment is very roomy and fits my 10x42 easily with room to spare. Has good storage for range finder and small things in front pockect. A larger bottom pocket which holds my snacks, tape spare radio batt etc. Windicator in front mesh pocket. It has a good pocket inside for your phone and behind that are loops for spare rounds. The main flap has a mesh pocket inside where I keep spare gopro batteries. I purchased the radio holder which is made to suit the Rino750. It straps and Velcros securly to the side. I also purchased a zip up pouch which straps and velcros to the other side where I keep my personal locating beacon. In the bottom I keep snacks, spare Rino batt, cloth and lense cleaner and tape. I have yet to have water get inside. Water does pool a little above the front pocket. I carry a shower cap if the rain gets to heavy. You get a bit of fogging on phone and binos when your body starts heating up, mainly on those big up hill climbs. A tissue comes in handy. I think I brought all three as a combo deal. Was quite pricey but it is well worth As for comfort and useability very good. You can adjust it to fit snug. And the flap wont open if crawling. I use a safari sling and my rifle sits comfortably across it with out blocking access to all pockets. Binos slide in and out easily and the magnets make it a nearly silent procces. Cheers Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  19. I have and they are great for people with a short torso and slim hips. So not for me lol Pack sits high and steel frame digs in to the hips. Not long storage wise but has plenty of volume and pockets. That's my experience. Since I got a Berghaus vulcan cyclops 2 I have never looked back. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  20. Got one and have given it a good whirl in the bush. It went great. I have the rhino in the left radio pouch and epirb in the right storage. Range finder in the front and spare radio batt and head lamp in bottom compartment. I also have my phone in the zipped pocket inside with my binos. Enough room also for gopro next to my 8x42 binos and spare batts in the front flap. I also wear the safari sling and it sits great. Not obstructing raising the rifle to shoot. After the week it had minimal bits n pieces stuck in it. And pretty much none inside. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  21. This is what I use and have done many load bearing events with it. Including a close to 80kg carry out a couple days ago. Had a bail over a log and she held strong! Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
  22. Kia Ora and to hi all, * Long intro, sorry. My name is Regan (34), from central North Island of New Zealand. Now living in NW Melbourne Vic. I have been in oz working flat out for the last 12yrs. Supporting my family has been my mission. After separating from my long time wife, which was fairly amicable. But as many will know, the head aches that arise really throw you about. With good mates lending an ear and also turning to nature to ease my mind, thats exactly what it did. Getting amongst nature is humbling and spiritual if you let it. To be able to sustain yourself on what the bush offers instead of Hungry Jacks or Coles is pretty damn amazing. I have two beautiful and growing kids. Girl 14, Boy 11 it has been hard on them. Me and the ex just want the best for them. My girl doesnt want to hang with dad anymore unless its in the mall. And my boy is at the prime age to soak up this stuff, I am itching to get him in the bush. And he is keen as mustard. Sorry to lay out my life out on here but just putting myself out there. I know there are many guys going through the same thing and some take it really hard. Many are shy or ashamed to speak up. It didnt help me to keep it all inside an stew. Strongly recommend getting it out and also counseling doesn't hurt. I'm sure most would agree, that as I am. Here to lend an ear or even better, catch up and get to know a fellow hunter gatherer for a hunt then a beer. I am renewing my love for the bush and nature, and also showing my boy a little of how we grew up. I grew up in the country in NZ and have always hunted. Now in oz, I have always maintained my fresh and saltwater fishing but was to lazy to jump the hoops to get my firearms until recently. Just was never to keen on running into my first deadly snake I think, but i suppose you got to be one with nature hey. I have been all over Australia for work (electrical) and holidays, and I def made a good decision to live in VIC. Over the 8yrs working all over the state I have seen some beautiful sights and barely seen half of it. Done more fishing than hunting but thats about to balance out. Looking forward to venturing into high country Vic. I will cut it off there, i tend to go on a bit lol, i have a few stories and have been on some hunts where i have had the opportunity to drop some animals (sambar mainly) and shared in the spoils of mates victories (Sambar tastes so good). Cant wait till my chosen quarry hits the deck. Much like fishing, the catch is just the icing on the cake. (unless the freezer is empty) See you on the fourms Regz .308 TIKKA T3 CTR BLUED/SYNTHETIC TRIJICON ACCUPOINT 3-9X40 MILDOT AMBER ATLAS BIPOD - LOVE IT!
