you need garmin Astro for that

first you download shonkymaps from the internet. http://shonkylogic.net/shonkymaps/ you install the software that came with your gps on your pc. (Mapsource) then you open the shonkymaps file into mapsource, select the area of Australia that you want or the whole thing. and click 'transfer to device' - you should have your gps connected to pc. thats it, as i understand you can only have 1 map active on the device at the one time. cheers TM

hi mate, i wouldnt bother using your phone as it needs the 3g network where your handheld gps does not (is that right?) i have a cheap garmin 60cx for sale in classifieds, will do everything you need and more. its still like new, ive used it for geocaching and some hunts.

Just got the Garmin GPSmap 60CX and playing around with it. Ive loaded shonky maps and Game Council Forest Maps though not sure if i can see both. looks like the GC maps cover up the shonky map (NSW anyway) -- is this normal? should i only be using 1 map set? the GC ones dont have much detail, just show outlines of the forests in NSW.

got the Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx (today!) -looks good so far, bit to learn so sure to ask some questions soon. we went with this system so brother can use it in the boat as well. anyone know where to download some marine maps ? east coast NSW. Pm if you wish

Hi, Does anyone know what Garmin models of handheld GPS are compatible with the downloadable maps from the NSW Game Council site ? for R Licence hunting. am looking to purchase one for this purpose and also for boating/fishing any advice appreciated. TM

my brother just got a new Uniden for the ute. looks like this the faceplate/control panel is separate to the box which is mounted behind the dash. so the faceplate is not very thick and at the moment just fixed with velcro tape by the auto electrician ! he's looking into a better way to fix the faceplate to the dash (anyone?) seems handy as the big box is out of the way.

how long do the rechargeable batteries last in the receiver ? (wildlife) are they something that need to be replaced every few years or lose capacity to fully charge after some years. also would love to find a product that let you know how much charge is in your collars?

-is there anything available to tell how charged your collars are for wildlife collars? also is it good to let them run right out now and then ? or just vary your charging times.

Aussie distributors sell the wildlife collars at ridiculous prices !! No Bull, -- could you order your collar from the USA and then take it to get C approved yourself at a lab. would this attract a charge?

not sure about the customs tax, etc. as i ended up trading some old collars for new ones and they were marked as maintenance or replacements which attracted no customs charge, just the sale price. if you can talk to the USA guy direct he might do this for you? which will be cheaper. the other oz freq is 173. (please check)

if you can find a roll of firehose, some buckles and studs ... its quite handy to make some thick neck collars.

my first dog cage was made from old bed frames, they are perfect angle, strong and easily cut and welded, then you add the mesh, sliding door and a wooden floor. i still have that old cage after more than 10 years! its heavy but very strong. if i had the materials and equipment today i would build a nice cage/rack. lets see some ideas...
