  1. WOW bet you have no problems when the power goes out
  2. hey hawkeye whos the digger in your photo album?
  3. thats reel similar to mine fogged. hawkeye, not sure if ive explained it poorly but mine was also used for bow hunting, in thick mountain bushland. i do understand the weight issue in summer tho, but i imagine all suits that have a bdu platform then decked out in hessian are going to have similar problems. if i was half decent with computers id freez frame the dvd to give an idea of the makeup of the suit. ps, a real snipers gilhie suit would need to be practical more than anything else as they are often require to traverse large distances to get into a position to lay all day.
  4. the collars are all pretty same, its the recievers that make the diff. im pretty sure the trx 16 is over kill mate, i think it tracks like 20 dogs? the next one down is cheaper but most people now seem to be heading to the sniffer for ease of use. still your $$$ = your choice and i think your local guy is the pigdog supplies guy isint it? if so he wouldnt lead you astray so good luck with it all.
  5. nice job champ, i made a sweet one but the missis chucked it when we moved (not happy) ive got a few things that may be handy to potential yowie suite makers. the best is a dvd i have called "the hidden advantage" its about 40 mins long and this fella takes you through it step by step, then i have a few books and tid bits from the net. but heres a few pointers for anyone considering making one. 1, as balty said hot glue( the type ya nan has for arts and crafts) was often used by actual sniper teams to make ghillies.(start from the bottom and work up to get an over laying effect) or 2, is to use a cheap hamok(spelling) bout $10 from aussie disposals. you cut a piece the shape of the back of your BDU and saw it on at the corners, then you simply tie your hessian through the loops in the hamok material. real quick to make and allows you to add foliage from whatever area your in at any one time. hope that helps
  6. ern webs got the back window jobs for $30, holds two, no screws. just dont know if it will fit the back window of the new hilux (06 not really new any more i spose) but im getting one anyway.
  7. gibbo i semm to recall you were goin to hook me up with maps. well, im waiting????????????????
  8. i have an innotek collar, pretty simple to use and effective. im told that its getting hard to get them into nsw now as some commpanys are refusing to post them to here.
  9. flashing LEDs very effective and can be switched on and off so can be used manny times over. the ones were using were bought from pigdogger from this site and are said to have a working light of around 200 hrs. hes got some good gear so send him a pm if your interested
  10. i got a pair of uniden (ill get the code after) handhelds and was outraged by the loss of reception with the smallest of obsticles. after talking to a few people im told its common with handhelds as they dont have all ot the metal surfaces of your car to project your signal. not a bad unit in prime conditions (couple of k line of sight) but not what i expected
  11. hey mattyf, got any pics of the boerboel? would love to see them
  12. howdy all, i live just outside wollongong, i hunt pigs with dogs and guns (rarely at the same time) i bow hunt the local deer population down here and shoot small game just to pass the time. just got my R licence and look forward to hitting some of the public land offered by this fantstic game council scheme. see yas out there Haze
  13. ronois that the base model? i think the only diff between the base and the camo is thecolour case anyone know for sure? oh sorry the camo has some built inhuntting time recomender or somthing but id probly look at that yellow one if its the goods in the thick stuff.
  14. ya dont say! and thanks for the thread ill have a read. cheers Haze
  15. im currently looking at the etrex cammo and just wondering if anyones using this or one of the similar models. are they any good? easy to use? any complaints? whats the coverage like, do they work well out west and in thick bush? that sort of bizo cheers haze
  16. i use mine on foxes and rabits mainly, it shines to about 90 to 110 metres but ionly ever take shots out to about 40 or 50 and at that range it givs good light up of an area (not the spread of a spottie ) and works well for me(when alone). mine runs off the usual 3 aa bats but allso has a belt clip that holds 4 c bats to give it better performance. sorry it took so long to reply haze
  17. theres one for sale in the clasifides under super sale or something
  18. what caliber orange that thing fire balty, and what class license does it go under LMFAO
  19. hey night hunter, if they dont seem keen to sell you the light force kit and arnt throwing alternatives at you maybee they dont like you just kidding mate, if those lf set ups wernt popular then l/f would stop making them. it could be that there just not big in your area (yet). i know of a few people that have them and they arnt as heavy as i thought they would be, but im still big on the LED headlamp.
  20. if your only hunting a couple of times a year then supercheap might be a good option. because my lights get such a workout i went higher up the chain to a 4x4shop (4 lights cost me just shy of 800). my set up is two pencil and two spread and i find this works well for me. if your only putting on two lights maybe opt for a set that can switch from spot to spread by fitting a lense spreader. or sometimes you can pick up some good second handers on here. 21. has anyone else tried the special forces brand cams from aussie disposals. for $90 i got my pants, vented shirt and face mask &gloves. ill post a pic of them for you guys tomorrow
  22. thanks for the imput guys, timber man ive contacted sirhuntalot and received msgs back , ao far it sounds fairly promising. waiting for final confirmation but if anyone else might be interested make a post here or let us know and well see how we go. doggy i agree with what your saying about price/performance (reliability) relationship, but for a relative novice to dogging im looking for entry level equipment and all being well, will certanly update to top line once were up and running. would hate to pay top $$$$ and find i dont use it.
  23. im looking for a tracking collar and have only really found two brands. they are both around the $1400 mark. are there cheaper systems or is this what im up for. my dog is still a pup so theres no huge rush for me to buy. any sugestions?
