  1. I just upgraded the 35w hid globes and ballasts in my driving lights to 100w HID's wow what a difference but im a big fan of hid lighting i just fitted a 9" pro powabeam HID to my ute shats all over my mates halogen version definitely worth the money that's for sure
  2. is running out of venison time for a hunt

  3. took some pics of the quad all i need to do is recover the seat and wire in my compressor and spotty still not certain as to which direction to go for water storage either an insulated water jug 5L or pvc pipe i have a small toolbox that i mounted tonight and im putting an esky on the front which will be home made from alloy or steel with coolroom foam as insulation unless i can find a low line plastic job also i am welding another rifle rest above the gum mount as the one that is on it means that you have to lay across the tank meaning you would be at an awkward angle and the recoil from my 300 win mag would cause a scope to eyebrow incident
  4. Im looking to fit a through roof spottie as i had a lend of a mates suction cup light over the weekend wow what a difference i think it would be a pain to shoot past though so ive decided to look at the roof mounted lights. So who has one pros cons? price? thanks in advance Al
  5. as the topic says i have been looking to buy an old quad for a few years now but when i have the money there isnt any thing suitable for sale, but i happen to come across a young bloke the other day selling one that has been set up for shooting rifle racks and rest included and he happened to be wanting to buy a motor bike for the farm so we did a clean swap i ended up with an 89 model suzuki lt4wdk 300cc in fairly good nick has been well maintained he got my old trusty ts250x which was a bloody good bike but not usefull to me any more. im looking for some mods to make the quad alittle more hunting friendly i am thinking water storage and fuel storage at a minimum what has every one else done to there quads
  6. cheers mate im going to try get out bush tonight and test her out a bit more
  7. the pic isn't the best or centered but i was getting eaten alive
  8. seems to work pretty good not very dark outside bit of ambiant light but looks clear except for some spots ive found are in the intensifier itself i will try get a pic through it later
  9. my wife is laughing at me cause im checking whether its dark every 15mins it aint super pretty but it has given the intensifier every chance to work as a test i taped the lens cap on and switched on the tube and slowly lit the room with the dimmer there was no change in the brightness of the ocular in even a brightly lit room so the only way light will get in is via the lens
  10. it is to do with import export duties i asked them that question
  11. fabed up a PVC scope today cough cough too sick to go to work i have tried it in the darkest room in the house not pitch black but dark enough so you cant read a poster on the wall seems to work a bit better but i will wait and see tonight lens mount complete with spring havent made a locking pin as this is only a prototype switch and ocular lens 40mm pvc joiner and machined down 6x40 tasco overall view, the outside is unpainted as it will be rubber coated internally it is insulated by foam & micro fibre insulation i found through a friend in the communications industry it is used to coat fibre optic bundles batery box is from an old r/c car it had a switch and conectors for the time being it is taped down (the tape is uv blocking electrical tape working for the mines has its advantages i used this tape around every where that light can enter the photo-cathode
  12. ill admit i wasnt using a magnifing lens to view the viewfinder but as for my pentax lense it has an adjustment ring for the iris i had it fully open will a mag lens make any difference to the illumination? I will tincker a bit more later
  13. made up a mock up last night with cardboard tube i think my tube may be stuffed it works but not as well as id expect it to i was using a 50mm f2 lens and it doesnt illuminate very well at all using it in my back yard underfull moon light i can see my back fence reasonably brightly but not much better than the naked eye i will try a new set of batteries but im not convinced that the tube is very good
  14. nope 3 mode the low mode is usefull but as for strobe pffft
