  1. Fenring, Any suggestions on a mount for the L2T with Monster Thrower head? Cheers, Rob
  2. Thanks all, I like the look of the Solarforce L2T.
  3. Hi all, I'm after a good general purpose torch - any recommendations? Must be capable of running on a single 18650 battery, preferably with a high and low setting and several hours runtime. Size wise, less than 15cm long would be ideal. Spill is more important than throw - I have an EagleTac T100C2 and a SolarForce Monster Thrower for use on the guns. This torch is for my old man for use around the house at night - bleeding edge technology is therefore not required. Budget is $30-$50. Suggestions would be much appreciated as there are a HEAP of options!
  4. Fenring, Any chance you could post some pics and/or details of the gun mount you use for the torch when the monster thrower head is attached? Mine arrived the other day and my rubber deal extreme mount isn't going to allow the torch head to clear the scope! Cheers, Rob
  5. Anyone have one of these yet? Looks the goods!!! http://wolfeyes.com.au/wolf-eyes-sniper-ii-hunter-p-191.html
  6. +2! I have the Eagletac, the WolfEyes Sniper and the Ultrafire WF002. The EagleTac is the better all rounder of these 3 torches and is well suited to both my HMR and .22. In order of throw distance it is: Ultrafire EagleTac Wolf Eyes In terms of Spill: Wolf Eyes EagleTac Ultrafire (it has virtually none!)
  7. Hi all, I have recently acquired a set of shooting sticks which are unfortunately not camouflaged. They are aluminium sticks that have been factory painted steel grey. I'd love a few pointers on the best way to go about a DIY camo job for them as I really have no idea where to start! Cheers, Rob
  8. Checkout multicam camo as a good allrounder.
  9. Hi all, I've just purchased a set of Multicam pants, jacket and a hat. I still need a pair of gloves and a veil, any recommendations on what to buy and where to shop? Cheers, Rob
  10. Ditto, the Moultrie's have a really good wrap fro what I have seen and read. I have a D-40 and I'm very happy with it. The I-40 would definitely be withing your budget (and maybe the I-60) and would be my choice.
  11. I've had some success with the Bombala whistle. I haven't 'cold called' foxes with it but when I have seen them they responded to the whistle. Volume is only marginally better than a button whistle.
  12. Correct, both have the smooth reflector. Agree, but the Eagletac is so much cheaper!
  13. Try looking at the pics at full size. Focus on looking at the centre of the torch beams and you should be able to make out the described items. If this is no good I can post some higher-resolution versions. Let me know what you think. It is tricky with no camera zoom, as I was trying the capture the entire width of the beam. I have taken shots at 90m+ with the Wolf Eyes and not had a problem seeing what I'm shooting down the scope. As stated eye shine shows up much further away. Based on this test the EagleTac should be effective for a bit further.
  14. So, I think the result is pretty clear based on my dodgy photos. The EagleTac has a significantly tighter, more focussed beam than the WolfEyes and therefore lights up the target better at longer distances. In terms of light intensity, there really doesn't appear to be much difference. Both lights are a similar 'soft white' colour. The EagleTac may appear brighter in some photos but this is simply due to the tighter beam in my opinion. The extra lumens of the Wolf Eyes clearly don't equate to extra brightness from what I saw. Inside 80m, there really isn't much of a performance difference in my opinion, but exceeding this distance you will better make out the silhouette of your target with the EagleTac, whereas with the WolfEyes you will not see too much more than eye shine. Both torches are great units and both are definitely suitable out to 100m. The WolfEyes is a more robust torch construction wise but is outperformed in use by the EagleTac. So in conculsion the EagleTac is the preferred torch in my opinion. The price tag makes this decision even easier, you could just about setup 2 EagleTacs for the price of 1 WolfEyes setup. I have hunted now quite a bit with the Wolf Eyes and really don't have too much to complain about. Eye shine from foxes etc can be picked up muuuuuuch further than I would ever bother taking a shot with my HMR. The battery life in this torch is as stated, well over 2hrs on full power. I will be utilising the EagleTac more in the coming months so I will report back if I think there are any more relevant differences with the WolfEyes. Hope this makes the tactical torch decision somewhat easier!
