  1. Give theopticzone.com a go as well. Just surf around the pages find what you want and add to your cart then checkout, it is pretty easy to work out. Rick
  2. Hi Robmaz, I was in the same dilemma a while ago, after a lot of research and looking at many top Euro brands I settled on the Jap made Browning 10X42's. I believe them the best value for money and found it difficult to pick any difference between them and the Euro brands and just couldn't justify spending the big money on the big name brands. I think I paid about $480 for them but you may find them cheaper at www.theopticzone.com. I have had them just over 12 months and love them. There are other good mid market brands around too like Bushnell but just be careful a lot of these brands have their lower end stuff made in China and are not a match to the Jap quality, just make sure that the made in Japan mark is on what you buy. Regards Rickmaz
  3. How many watts should I be looking at? will one watt do the job or should I be looking for something a bit stronger. The block I hunt on does have a fair bit of bush. Rick
  4. Thanks for your help guys. I have googled up some prices and it appears that the GME 6200 are good value for money. I will shop around a bit and see what I come up with. Rick
  5. Hi All! Looking to buy some UHF hand helds, seen some in #### Smiths but they don't seem to be very powerful. Any ideas on whats the best to buy and what to look for in choosing a set? Regards Rick

    Gps

Thanks for your comments guys much appreciated. obviously there is a huge range of GPS units available and a lot of research is required to find one that suits my needs. The different mapping catagagies are interesting and something I did not know about. Thanks for your very detailed response Happy Jack and, no I would not buy a unit that had a games feature on it. My kids would flatten the battery quick smart. Rick

Hi All! I am looking at a hand held GPS. There are so many different types on the market that it is all a bit confusing. If you buy a hand held can it be used in the car when in the city like the in car type or are they different programs to the ones you use in the bush? Rick

    New Hunting Knife

Thanks Len, Yeh, I already have a Svord Outdoorsman with a stag handle. I love the knife but the sheath is a real nuisence. The scabbard is the full length of the knife and handle and gets in the way all the time when in the field. I have looked around for another sheath for it but haven't had any luck, thats why I was looking at another knife. Rick
  9. Hi All! Looking to spend a bit of money on a good quality hunting knife, but can't make my mind up between he Puma Jagdnicker or Buck Vangard. Rick
  10. Hi Joe, I haven't used Leupolds (got a VX 111 scope though) or Alpens, but if you are looking at Nikon Monarchs then it is worth a look at the Brownings. Rick
  11. Bought some Bino's recently and did a lot of research on top Euro brands that cost the earth. Then looked at Jap Binos like Nikon, Pentax etc. After looking through many different magnifications and brands I settled on the Browning 10X42, Jap made and cost approx AU$500. I didn't even know Browning (same logo as the rife) made Binos until I was made aware of them by a specialist Bino store. They are light weight, good solid construction and when looking through Leica, Swarovski and Browning at the store I could't pick any difference in optical quality. Rick
  12. Hi Everyone, I bought a Svord Outdoorsman knife a couple of months ago, which is great for field work and holds an excellent edge, however the sheath it came with is very bulky and is a nuisance on the hip when hunting. Does anyone know where I can buy a good quality knife sheath from? Rick
  13. Hi I hunt a bit when I get time to go down to the farm. Have just bought a GWP gun dog and have been spending a bit of time training him. Looking to increase bowling over ferals in 08.
