  1. Its a still off some film footage that I took. It came in at a trot then hit the afterburners then smashed into the FoxPro really hard. I never had the gun that day but returned sometime latter, called with a whistle from a different stand and am sure it was the same limping fox that I called in again this time to the shotgun.
  2. Simple answer" Yes" they work and work well . I have had a Foxpro Spitfire for about 10 years now. The model I have allows for 24 different sound files that I can remove and replace with new files. Some distress sounds work better than other with a big selection to upload and plenty for free . There is no need to buy the top end models for calling foxes IMO . I add mouth blown fox whistle and hand calls when I call stands. I have worked with decoys as well but don't bother much these days but there are times they add value. I call through the day and do quiet bit of self filming the action rather than night calling but day or night ecallers work well. Check out my link below to some footage I have taken
  3. ANOTHER + FOR THE DIAMOND BACK. Very good in low light .
  4. look forward to the report len.
  5. Good luck Len. I added the camera to my hunting and enjoy that aspect of it. Looking forward to seeing what you shoot with it.
  6. I have 2 IR flash cameras that have a RED glow on flash and I wouldn't risk them being seen by your thieves. There is new models that now have BLACK FLASH that's unseen on flash. http://www.cabelas.com/trail-cameras-accessories-primos-truth-cam-blackout-trail-camera.shtml
  7. I THINK THE SPITFIRE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH AND I'VE WORKED MINE IN ALL SITUATIONS OVER 3 YEARS THIS NOVEMBER. EVERY TIME i LEAVE IT AT HOME AND JUST USE THE WHISTLE I SEEM TO GET BUSTED AND WITH THE SHOT GUN I CAN HANDLE THAT BUT WITH THE RIFLE SOMETIMES IT SPELLS THE END TO MY CHANCES. HAVING THEM HUNTING THE CALLER AND HAVING OPTIONS OF WHERE YOU WANT THE SOUND COMING FROM IS THE BRILLIANCE OF A FOXPRO. .
  8. I have a Predator Enticer Decoy and used it for 2 years with my Foxpro Spitfireto good effect but tried the FoxPro on its own this year. I HAVEN'T CONCLUDED THAT I NEED A DECOY YET HAVING HAD GREAT RESULTS WITH AND WITHOUT A DECOY. I noticed that there was some of the younger ones ealier in the year from the last 2 years showed some hesitation not being sure of the decoy where as this year just using the Foxpro they have to seek it out which worksa well. From now on the're becoming wiser and seems the responces drop off a bit moving towards Winter so not sure if that's where a decoy will help. Certainly had good responce without the decoy this year and might struggle to justify putting it out given how well it attracts them without one..
  9. Just a follow up on the Redfield Raider 550 now that I have had it out in the field a few times. Generally speaking unless you want to range deer out to further than 350 to 400m I'd be hard pressed to want to spend another cent. Very clear optics very cmpact good in low light and even registers birds in flight. Registers out to 580m on large targets and feel that its perfect for my needs.
  10. I'll PM you as you have lots of questions to answer.
  11. I have a mate I hunt with who has one. Works well but more often than not he uses ladders stands with a chair built into the top of them that he leaves in place. Being private land that suits that aranmgement. His climbing chair is bulky but very sterdy not something you would want to lug into the bush every time you want to hunt but certainly has it place. The last 2 deer I have harvested have both been out of a ladder chair that gave me the height for visibility and that extra ability to avoid detection not being at ground level.
  12. Well Scott not happy to hear that the Redfield is less than what you want. I recently ordered a Redfield Raider 550 not wanting to spend big dollars but found locally it would have been around $100 more than online. I read alot of reviews and was impressed with what I read for a lower end rangefinderfor accuracy, ease of use and general owner satisfaction. It wasn't easy to find sellers wanting to ship to Australia at all let alone at a reasonable shipping price. In the end it cost me $205 delivered from www.TheRifleScopeStore.com where I ordered my deer rifle scope last year. Disapointing that the LG shops are unable to compete with the US market to the point that it's either compromise the quality of your purchase here or pay alot more to get what you want to support local business. I hope that I am happier with the Redfield than Scott but for my needs I think it will work out well. Ironiclly its made by Leupold so should be no issue of quality but time will tell.
  13. Hi Nick,

just interested to hear how you got on with your Trail Cam ?

    REGARDS DAVID.

  14. Hi Dan,

I have sent a couple of emails but maybe to the wrong email. Can you send youe email address again.

  15. Dids you get my last email Dan or did I stuff up the address

  16. Glad your happy with the light. I got a mount that suits the led LENSER P7 that they make. Cost me $20.
  17. Yeh same light I recon. I would say good for 120+ NICE AND TIGHT
  18. I bought a 190 lumens LED torch this week and am extremely impressed with it. Thought I'd share the value. I got it from JAYCAR after noticing it in their catalogue. $19.95 and works a treat. I have a P7 200 lumens and think its better than that having a tighter focal point. Runs on 3 AAA batteries. For $20 it a terrific light, so if you don't have a LED torch to mount this is the place to start. Mades a great back up light if you already have one. Fits well with the P7 mount also $19. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=ST3456&CATID=21&form=CAT&SUBCATID=649
  19. In a word. NO. I think the reviews on cabelas is the key to operation and reliability. Most have a good number of reviews to give a base to make a comparison. Reliability is a huge issue with TRAIL cameras all makes and most models. ANYTHING LESS THAN 4 OUT OF 5 IS BELOW MY STANDARD. My tip would be a Pimos Truth 35 $99. rated at 4.1-5 has 49 reviews @cabelas and a good bench mark if nothing else . If you want to spend more then look at the others in their range. For $200 I'd get 2 X 35's.
  20. Reading the posts on the laser lights where most are using the <$40 50mW unit they are reporting them to be more effective than the ND3 which although quote good for 250 mtrs they fall well short. Disappointed to see that laser pointers are restricted when it comes to import and don't know if I'll got to the trouble of applying for a permit to import though but like the idea of not spooking game [FOXES, WILDDOGS] like conventional lights have the habbit of doing without the big dollars. I think we'd be dreaming to expect NV equiptment to come down to anything like LED gear.
  21. I came across a post on a US hunting forum that interested me and many others, as a result the topic ran into 18 pages of posts and still going. It’s all about a laser lights that are exceptionally good for night hunting rivaling night vision at a low cost. This is a link to what had been a very popular light in the States. http://www.lasergenetics.com/nd3-laser-designator.aspx These lights are about $340 but another laser light has been tried and tested that compares exceptionally well for around $40. The link to this low cost light is http://www.budgetgadgets.com/focusable-green-beam-laser-pointer-flashlight-ag1006-50mw100mw150mw200mw-p-7135.html Seeing a real interest in night hunting here with a variety of LED lights I thought this might interest a few. The range sounds terrific and has the ability to be used like a flashlight or a laser beam over hundreds of metres. I place an order and will report on how I find it. Here is some comments from hunting users You see the full image crisp and clear and the eyes glow really bright so you can see where the head is on point. Like I said, it is like looking through a perfect set of night vision with the bonus of the eyes glowing right back at you. On one of the fox I was taking a shot at, you could see his head move side to side as he was looking around as if it were daylight. I was able to see through bushes, leaves on them and jack rabbits running around extremely easy among the fox I was taking aim at. I can guarantee you that the members here who have already placed orders for the laser will post the same reviews as I have and this thing will create a new trend for a fraction of the cost of a ND3/ND5 laser along with putting it's performance in the dust. I used a $19 VTac light mount from my local gun store and I'm sure they can be found all over the internet. I mounted it on my Daniel Defense side picatinny rail in the same line of sight as my scope runs. It don't have to be set dead perfect as it produces a flashlight type beam when focused in that mode and can be seen through the entire field of view. If you are using a bolt action type rifle I'm sure they make a similar type mount for it that can be found on Google. I hope this helps. The link below shows a side view of how it's mounted on my rail. This is why I run a spotlight to scan first then if I spot something, I light the laser up and get a better view. Where I hunt they have a ton of wild cows that I was able to spot with it but they were only shined with the laser for a few seconds and then it was turned off. From what it read online it don't seem to bother the eyes of animals at all but I don't want to keep them in the green light for any longer than it takes for me to put them down or move on. This is why I also stick to a 50mW one. It does more than enough. You can pay with a credit card if you select the PayPal Express Checkout. No account needed I got it mounted on my gun last night and it is AWESOME! In fact my bother-in-law saw it and is going to order one as weell. I can't wait to get a chance to try it out on a coyote or two. I dont have a mount for my rifle yet but i velcro'ed the laser to the top of my binoculars and it worked awesome. they work like night vision binoculars. beam is a little narrow up close, but other than that just as TTS described. I can scan a field about 1000 yards from my house like its daylight
  22. Hi Jase. Great info there. I would have got great value out of what you wrote a couple of months ago when I bought my binos. I finished up with aset. Olivon 8x42. Not expensive [$250] They do the job and do a great job in low light but I haven't had the benefit of comparison to be a quoted. They had a big influence on getting my first Sambar Stag in the last light of the day back in November but I haven't used much else so if you had the chance to have a look at them I would like to hear your thoughts. Your next mission if you choise to accept it would be rifle scopes.
  23. I recently read a good article about the high success rate of a combination of a predator call with a moving decoy. I' like to try it out. Farmgirl that article might be the one I wrote in the latest Guns & Game magazine. Not easy to target a specific fox and a failed attempt goes along way to educated a smart fox. So whatever you do needs to do the busines. Creating a patten when it visits with bait sounds a solid idea then its just a mater of patients and getting it right the first time. My thoughts on the Button whistle are that it doesn't offer the volume over long distances or windy days but certainly will work with or without rabbits in the area. GOOD LUCK WITH IT AND WE WANT PICS WHEN YOU'VE.
