    Exquisite!

Okay guys, thought i post some pics of my new Damascus knives.... They are no way in the same class as Gryph's which was truly a piece of art but i like them. 2 (white handles) are drop point skinners and weight a tonne, 1 is a stockmans locking blade(little one) and the other 2 are just general purpose hunting/skinners ... I hope you enjoy the pics... I did have to reduce them a fair bit though so quality has suffered....

    Exquisite!

thanks Gryph!! After seeing this i suddenly had a passion for Damascus blade knives. Proud owner of 4 now and a little bit poorer...... thanks mate!!! lol
  6. Yay, i go in for 3rd back op since March this ear, so my hunting season is screwed...... for 2010. Oh well gives me a chance to catch up on lots of reloading..... Can't wait for 2011!!!

  7. thanks guys... i definately know it aint the IR filter... that would be good for some of the IR camera work i do though.... Maybe i was being a sook, and not used to it yet... will try again... and they come in a whole range of colours.. red, IR, green, yellow, Amber, clear, blue, and with all the combo, spot etc lenses as well... Is the HID upgrade worth it????
  8. Hey Guys, As you all know i do a fair bit of feral culling, be it foxes at lambing time or general bunny busting. I don't eat them, nor does the dog, just doing my bit for the farmer and the environment(rant out of the way) I use a lightforce 240 Blitz which i might add is a great light, cheaper than the bigger steel jobbies and not as bright but it does the job. At times it can be too bright, and the little critters shy away. So i put the amber lense on and the foxes will stare at it alot longer as to will the coneys. A few of the local rabbits have "cottoned on" to this amber light so i tried their famous "red" filter... WEll buggar me... i could see past my nose... It was as dark as night itself.. Has anyone else tried these lenses and had any luck???? The other option i was going to explore was the HID upgrade to make the 240Blitz even brighter to accomodate the dark red lens???? What do we all use when "lamping" or spotlighting???? Love to hear your thoughts guys!!!
  9. +1 for the Ultrafire. I too initially purchased a P7 and a H7 for hunting. Both a good torches for around the camp and or finding down game, but as far as torch hunting goes..... YOU CAN'T BEAT THE ULTRAFIRE.... So much torch for the little price. Our local battery shop sells the cr123 for $7.50 each, but now i'm looking at the 18650 instead. LOVE THAT TORCH
  10. Ordered my ultrafire the other week, on its way as i type... Can't wait to try it out!!! THANKS FENRING
  11. I've decided it's time to go techno, and stop guessing the range of game that i shoot. We all hear of the "claimed" 600m head shot rabbit etc, and with the number of you tube videos i am looking at producing i want some credibility... So i was looking at getting a laser range finder. This too would also be handy for CPM goat shoots, as well as standard deer hunting, and varminting sessions. Those that have/use what are you opinions...??? I was looking at the Leopold RX750TBR, Magnum sports in NSW have them advertised at $400 delivered... Which i thought seemed reasonable... A penny for your thoughts gentlemen............. Cheers GreatDane
  12. hey Fen, As always you come up with all the great info and reviews... i have to throw this guy into the LED ring... Found them at the R'glen deer expo the other month.. Rated at 440 lumens, the demo seemed good, but they a fair bit bigger that the LENSER P7 (closer to a P14 for size) but they salesman reckons good for 200m easily, and has shot a shiteload of pigs under his... Not sure at $135 is a big gamble..... here's the link http://steveshuntingworld.com.au/images/product/TORCH%20LARGE.JPG (hope it works..) Seriuosly considering the ultrafire though for the HMR.. As the LENSER P7 just isn't quite good enough.....
  13. hey Keith, latest guns and game mag has an ad for the SAVAGE mod93 HMR/22 for $625!!!!! You won't find cheaper than that... may have been Cleavers in QLD...

    Cheers

    Leif
