  1. What I have found is no matter what they say it’s made out of or how it’s layered if it’s waterproof it won’t breath as easy so if your doing a fair bit of foot work you’ll probably find you’ll sweat in them
  2. I almost think breathability it more important then waterproof , I hate sweating in pants ! And sweating can actually lead you be colder which I found out
  3. Yeah love it ! I’m running the shorts aswell now and can’t fault them. , everything holds up well in thick Bush and blackberrys but my legs take a battering ! But I’m a shorts man and love the flexibility and the fact I don’t sweat In them , waiting to get caught in a mid winter downpour to really see how the jacket performs
  4. Well said joe , I’ll definitely keep that all in mind ! Very valid points ???? Cheers
  5. Ended up pulling my back something shocking 10 mins before knock off on Friday and ruled me out for the weekend ?? Absolutely devastated but fingers crossed not this weekend but the next is wet and I’ll go out ! I just wished snakes didn’t exist ?
  6. I haven’t got a chance yet unfortunately! But fingers crossed , I’ll get out for 2 nights this weekend. Just to a local spot down low , plenty of water and less hound pressure so it will be interesting , I’ll keep you updated !
  7. Looks a lot more upgraded !!
  8. Cheers mate ! I ended up finding out it was nearly full , so cleared all the rubbish off and now it's good as gold ! Thanks again ??
  9. Yeah I noticed the kiwis love running that setup so must be alright ! I reckon I'll try it and see how I go worse case scenario I'll buy some pants yeah I'll invest in another pair of thermals so I can have a freshen up if need be exactly right , this first trip should teach me a lot of what I need and don't need , I think I've got the necessities sorted so it will be just about improving comfort my first hunt will be at dargo at a spot I'm familiar with , I'll hike in a bit and setup but at the end of the day and shit hit the fan for some reason I'd be able to hoof it back to the ute. Don't wanna go to big to early
  10. Yep that's exactly what made me upgrade ! I've had no real issues hunting in the wet locally but I find they don't breath same with the pants ! Anyone hunt in thermals with shorts ? I'm thinking of going in that direction for breathability and flexibility but worried about they would perform in wet weather
  11. Yeah I did this and also did the master reset and clear out all my old tracks so hopefully that solved the problem !
  12. Yeah all seems to be high quality stuff so now it's just a matter of trying it out and seeing how it holds up ! The jacket came with a 5 yr warranty and if you have an accident while hunting and it ends up wrecked they replace it, pretty impressive
  13. Yeah thought of getting socks that dry quick , otherwise I'll stick to my explorers yeah I like the 50mm for the light it draws but if it gets too heavy I'll swap it for something lighter
  14. Yeah could probably leave the bandage out but knowing my luck that will be the trip I accidentally drop punt one in the middle of know where hahah yeah was surprised, it's a tikka t3 hunter with a meopta 4-12x50 so the scope won't be helping. Maybe this is a good excuse to invest in a light weight cannon
  15. Alrighty ! I think I'm all sorted but ain't out if I've missed something •black wolf Mantis UL2 tent • sea to summit trekIII sleeping bag • sea to summit comfort light insulate mat • dry sack contains thermal top and pants and spare socks and jocks •rain jacket • snake bandage •plb •head torch • binos • cooking pots that have gas canister and fork and knife inside • first aid kit with all sorts of pieces • fire kit with 3 lighters wrapped in elec tape as lightweight mentioned and also some bike tube •purification tablets and life straw (bit soft I know) • clean kit with tp and wet wipes •knife • tool kit includes cable ties , string and Allen key and torx bit to suit scope and stock bolts WEIGHT: 11kg without food or water so I'm guessing 16kg with that thrown in Gun: 3.7kg empty gunna grab some good socks that dry quick and I think that's it for now , cheers for all the on going help fellas ?? Muchly appreciated
  16. I reckon I'd be to scared to not sleep with my gun ?
  17. Yeah the research I did on them was more then enough to convince me to invest in them. Nothing worse then being wet , the more comfortable you are the longer you can hunt
  18. Treated myself to some new clothes leading up to my first back pack hunt , got the hunters element crucial shirt and xtr pinnacle jacket. Both seem awesome, super light and packable and just well made ! I'll let everyone know how it goes once I test it out. Anyone looking for some wet weather gear look on there website I picked up the jacket for $300 down from $550 ????
  19. Yeah I got the proper merino ones but only one pair , starting to think I should've got two! My clothing so far is : ridgline mallard pants and jacket moroka 30 Ls shirt ridgline polar fleece jumper stoney creek boots moroka 30 gaiters I'm planning on swapping out the bulky ridgline jumper for a smaller light weight hunters element one
  20. Out of interest how many pairs of thermals do you take ? I've only got one pair at the moment , anaconda have %50 off. Cheers WL , yeah I've the two man tent but was thinking of the fly just as a bit of a veranda haha something to cook under and throw the bag of a night. The blue tarp sounds like it could be a goer for sure then ! A while oback I went to rob fickling from moroka 30 talk about back pack hunting and he said he leaves his gun outside the tent of a night because otherwise being so warm in the tent when you get out to hunt the scope with keep fogging up for a while , interested to hear what you fellas think and do with your gun ? Cheers again for all the help everyone ??
  21. Anyone take spare clothes for at camp if you get a small fire going ? Or am I over thinking it
  22. Yeah I'm thinking of getting a moroka 30 fly for added shelter
  23. That's awesome to here ! I think being that size will help me pack just the essentials
