  1. Where are you located no use offering a shot at some bunnies north east of Perth if you live in Bunbury ??
  2. Yep can't go wrong with a TIKKA , I have a Varmint and love it.
  3. I have a Bushnell 600 and when I first got it I took it to my silhouette club and ranged it on all the targets and gongs set at different distances and it was within 1-2 m of the target from the firing line , who's to say the targets are set at the exact range but it ranged the same distance when I went along the line of targets, I ranged the Rams from the firing line and 10 of them all ranged at 501 m each and the other targets all were the same so I am happy with it's repeat-ability. In the bush it would range off Roo's etc out to 350 m , that was about the furthermost I could get a good shot at an animal with it as the paddocks are small and have timber right thru them. My mate has a Leica 1000 and uses it for everything around the farm right down to distance from point "a" to point "b" for laying pipe so he can get enough for the job. It's fantastic at night when out Roo shooting as we shoot for the pet meat trade and you have to head shoot them, sometimes you just want to reach out and touch it instead of driving after it and watch it disappear into the thick scrub. I didn't think I would use one until I got one, it comes in handy for other things besides hunting.
  4. Hi boy's I am the secretary of the Perth rifle metallic silhouette club and shoot in the field too, it's good on here,,,, if there is anything we can help you with then just ask. I may speak to our committee to see if we can have a WA Austhunt afternoon at our club, a bit of shooting and a bbq would be good, Maybe we can celebrate getting a S&F party member into parliament. CHEERS, Brendan.
  5. We run south african practical hunting rifle matches at Perth rifle metal silly wet club every second saturday arvo shooting a variety of aust and african game at unknown distances and from different types of rests and off hand ( trees , tyres, bench , car bonnet ,off a hill etc) if you want to get in some practice let us know from .223's to 505 gibbs, we have a facebook page too.
  6. I got it from Cabelas in the states. It's on their website I'll try and find a link.
  7. I have a Simmons 20 _ 60 X 80 I paid $99 for and I can see 7mm holes in targets at 500m until the mirage washes the picture out and that goes for the 30X on my 6500 Bushnell scope. mirage is usually the killer .
  8. just lob up around 8 am and ask to shoot as a guest they will do the rest.
  9. Well they can have my guns when they pry them from my Cold dead fingers. I just joined the shooters and fishers party to get it up and going here in WA and ask any other's from WA to do the same. $30 well spent. SSAA does their bit and the S&F will take over from where the SSAA stops and yes I believe the SSAAWA do do things for their members.
  10. It is one of these new fangled bent keyboards suppose to make it easyer but it's not,, and I can't log on with my new laptop because I can't remember my password.
  11. It will never happen, they will have to close all the gun ranges in wa if they did and start taking guns off farmers and you don't want to get the farmers angry as we need their produce to live. Edit because my keyboard doesn't want to put up the letter I type into it but the one near it (maybe it's full of crap inbetween the keys).
  12. Well G'DAY to all the new members, hope your time in here is fruitfull.
  13. If'n your looking for a shooting partner let me know, I'm chasing a property manager / owner that will give me an open letter to get my 7/08, willing to pitch in with $$ cash etc no problem.
  14. $110 nomination fee (once off fee), $110 per year, take $10 off each time you attend a busy bee and thats it( My son and I do it all and it cost me $139 this year for both of us), if your deemed a fit and propper person you get a main gate key and the combination to the club rooms and targets shed, you are allowed there 24/7 unless there is a comp on ( weekends) but every second sunday is a free day, or if there is a busy bee happening. 15. I'm at perth rifle metalic sillhouets club up at the wanneroo shooting complex on Perry road, we are one of the few clubs close to Perth that has 500m range and 5 sets of centrefire targets and 12 sets of rimfire targets , we are soon to shoot rimfire leveraction sillhouette so if you have a rimfire lever gun with open sights come on up and compete.
  16. You Sneaky little bugger . PS there are about 5 of us on here all from the same club , sometimes we have our own little jokes on here and people think were mad. PRMSC. if you have it , you can shoot it at our club. Perth Rifle Metalic Silhouette Club I'm just about to go up there to blast some bad guys and hope not to hit any hostages.
  17. I would say it depends on what you can get on the property, if you can get a .223 then you can reload it to hornet speeds and noise or use full house loads, it all depends on what you can get and whats available to shoot. if rabbits and foxs then you could put in for a ,22 rimfire for spotlighting at night , a 12 gauge shotgun for walking around whistling up foxs and taking running shots at sprinting rabbits and if it's big enough for a .223 then a .223 for long range shooting on ferals and vermin, if there are bigger animals to be shot and the property lets you then a good 6.5 X 55 , 308, 7/08 , 260 rem 300win mag, 300 wsm, 270 wsm etc etc but don't think because you get a hornet it will be easy to upgrade it later as the cops wil ask why the hornet is no longer required and then the BS starts. get what you can don't go small unless it's all you can get from the property owner, I have been thru it all for open class rifles / shotguns, club support rifles and club suport .22 rimfire and C/f pistols. Get onto it buddy , the sooner you get it the sooner you can shoot it, you have an invite to our club whenever you get your lic , we have a .22 rimfire range as well as a 500 m range to really try your skills out, Cheers , Brendan.
  18. G'day Buddy if you know a farmer with around 5000 plus acres of undulating land and he's willing to give you a letter of consent to shoot on it then it's easy to get just about anything you want, if you need any help then there are a few of us WA boys on here with a lot of experience in this as well as clubs etc so let us know if we can help in any way. CHEERS , Brendan. I have a few small properties I shoot on as well as being assist secretary and membership officer at a club and even I'm on the look out for some decent sized properties, for a 7/08 and 300WSM .
  19. Is this your place or are you working on the property. If your ever down in Perth and want to throw some lead out of some pistols etc let me know,, we could tee something up at the club I'm in.
  20. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but to hunt anywhere in WA you need the property owner / managers permission. As for what you need I would say a bow and some arrows to get you started There is an archery thingo up near the shooting complex in Whiteman park, you walk around in the bush shooting at targets set up in the bush, I heard it's fun but havn't participated myself, too busy shooting rifles & pistols to play cowboys and injun's.
  21. WE let guests shoot at our club if your hanging out to have a blast, every second sunday $10 to shoot and pay the person who lends you a gun for the ammo (usually $5 a box ) Perth Rifle Metallic Sillhoutte Club, Perry road Wanneroo.
  22. I bought one of these, the stand is $hit but the scope is clear even at 60X. http://www.opticsplanet.net/simmons-pro-sport-spotting-scope-20-60x60.html I have others at our club comment that it's clearer than their brand named spotters
  23. Welcome there are a few of us on here members of clubs, if you want to check them out and maybe become a member then ask away. In 4 weeks we are having the state rifle metalic sillhouette championships (.22 rimfire) at our club up Wanneroo shooting complex, but we will be letting loose with centre fire rifles and pistols far into the night. A few of us camp overnight to enjoy the comeraderie and sit around a smokey fire talking crap.
