  1. I'd steer clear of that one mate, To me it looks like a small pair of binos the ones you usually see that are 8x24 or like that . 30x60 means it has 30x power and a 60mm objective lens. Well it doesn't look like a 60mm objective lens to me. But if it is as it states and you want them for looking at the stars and planets they suit you,but they are totally usless for hunting as the field of view would be like 2 meters at 1000yards or some ridiculus figure like that. But if you want a pair for huntig I have a brand new pair of Nikon binos 7-15x33 zoom for $125 + postage if your interested.
  2. +1 on the sambar jacket and also Stoney creek have a pair of pants called "Trackpants", they go well with the sambar jacket. Very warm combo.
  3. Ive been using Garmin topo maps for a couple of years now and they are very good. They are a lot better than the Oz topo maps and give a bit more detail than shonky maps. I only use it on my Nuvi 760 for 4WDing and its routable where most others are not.
  4. Cameronpatrol, The format you download it in is what the gps will read. No need to convert it to an special format. Shonky maps are good but not a great deal of detail and they are free. I bought a micro sd card off ebay with garmin topo maps on it from a bloke in Lithuania for $80 delivered. They are much better than shonkymaps.
  5. Gday mate, I don't know what the read me file says, but from my experience with a recently bought Etrex Vista HCX, I downloaded the maps i wanted to a micro SD card. Thats what the ETREX use, im not sure what your one uses. Then i put the micro card in the GPS and somewhere in the system setup there will be a option for you to select which map to use. You highlight shonkymaps and away you go. If your unit does not have a memory card and only an internal memory, go looking in the system menus for the map selection.
  6. I thought all laser pointers were banned in NSW some time ago because of the bloody idiots pointing them at aircraft. It doesn't matter if its a lower power or not.

    Cheers Mick

  8. Gday mate,

Thanks for the info, but i want one with a natural wood grain finish. I know CZ sell thumbhole 452's in the USA with walnut wood. I'm going to ask my LGS to see if he can get one in. but ill have a look at the ones you have, so they will only fit the 452? not the 453? I'm still undecided as to which model I'll get. my email is

    sydney1965@dodo.co...

  9. After reading some of your replies about Cabelas and how good the service is, i decided to buy my first pair of hunting boots. I just got a pair of cheapies, 7" Pinnacle hunting boots. I chose the slowest postage and the cheapest (surface mail i think) and they arrived exactly 6 days after i ordered them. How bloody good is that! I put an order in at my LGS for some camo jackets and he's telling my 6-8 weeks till they arrive.
  10. Hey gryphon, What do Cabelas call the Meindl boots?
  11. Gday Fred, Good story. I have the Fenix TK40 rated at 600 lumen and i reckon you could use it as a normal spotlight its that bright. There are a pretty good torch. Cheers
  12. I'm looking at the same set up your thing of Jase as well and i'm considering the lightforce because of its weight. I remember years and years ago when we used to go hunting with i think it was a powerbeam, our arms would get sore after awhile from holding it up. It was pretty heavy. But as you said your going to mount it on the door frame with the remote handle, id still go the lightforce. Although it has the dark spot in the centre of the beam some blokes here say you just pull the globe out a touch and that fixes that. Plus the lightforce is cheaper.Ive seem the SL240 for $135 somewhere in sydney.
  13. It wasnt Anderson, its Andrews Communications Greystains. Sorry about that. they do have a website, just type andrews communcation into google.
  14. Andersons communication in Greystains, NSW
  15. I bought a GME TX6100 a few weeks ago. Its a 5 watt model same as the ones you put in your car. Battery lasts about 24hr while scanning. You can change it to 1 watt if you are close by others with a radio to save power. It comes with a separate microphone, so you attach the radio to you belt and the mic can sit on your shoulder like you see the cops do. It comes with a car charger and a desk charger all for $265. The bloke at the shop said in ideal conditions (flat country) you could send and receive from up to 10-13km on the 5 watt setting. And its Australian made.
  16. Gday Jase, I got the model below that one your looking at 15x50 x50 i think, something like that anyway. Im VERY happy with it and i can see the .308 holes at 200m easy. Ozscopes are a great bunch and i got it 2 days after paying for it. Youll be happy with the one your looking at. Cheers
  17. Well ya cant beat bad luck caveman. I have no probs what so ever. I have a large format panorama camera takes 4 AA's the lens rotates so it uses a bit of power and i have no probs. Ive seen boxs at i think Supercrap auto for like $10 for 20 or so, or something like that cheap anyway and there named brand batteries. The ones i have are a no name brand ive never heard of.
  18. Gday Bear, I gave up on re chargeable batteries years ago. There is nothing worse than running out of power half way into the night. I bought 400 (AA) and 200 (AAA ) alkaline batteries on ebay a year ago for $167 delivered. The P7 is a little beauty, but just the other day i got a P4-250 from the Kizlyar knives mob its a smaller than the P7 torch and brighter.
  19. Gday all, Im a new member to this forum. Im a 44yo, been shooting ferals since i was 16 with mates. We mainly went on properties in western NSW, Coolibah area. Heaps of pigs n goats there.
