Camo - Veil & Gloves

Recommended Posts

I think gloves are pretty self-explanatory. Some have fingers removed (for obvious reasons) and some are warmer - just pick what will suit you and your hunting months.

I've got a veil that has an elastic strap that goes around your temple (made by stony creek I think). Its crap! It leaves the rear of your head and ears exposed so the game can see big white bits. Also, it gets itchy under the elastic when you start sweating. Worst part is the bit that you see through ends up both restricting your vision and slipping under my nose. Maybe your nose is smaller than mine but anyway, its a pain.

I've seen some that are like a big, loose condom that goes over your whole head and just has an eye slit. They're the go I reckon. Just put your hat over the top (or not) and you're away.

If you find one of those, let me know where!

For the veil, I just bought  a "scrim" from Aussies. It's like a burlap mesh dyed in camo. It's rectangular. I just drop it over my head and put a loose hat on to hold it down (but thats not really needed).

If it gets too hot, cold water over it and you'll be fine.

As for gloves, not sure the brand, but I got some that is thin, kinda like lycra material with these gripper dots over the palm and fingers.

It's camo'ed, it's quite, it's thick enough to hold out the cold, but thin enough not to heat up in summer and I've still got good feeling thru it so no need to cut off the finger.

I bought a bit of gear including gloves, face mask, bag and some DVD's from a web site called www.deals4hunters.com Unfortunatly they won't ship to Australia but I had a contact in the States that was willing to forward the items to me. Vert good value and quality items. I wanted some warmer gear than the vale and cheap gloves than I had.

ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO GET SOME WARM WATER PROOF CAMO PANTS?......CHEAP

I've been using cabelas dry plus pants and jacket the last 6 months and find them excellent to use. I've stuggled through blackberries without any rips or tears and stayed dry out in the rain. They are non insulated though, I've used thermals underneath when needed to stay warm. Fabric isn't loud either, great for stalking.

Not 'water proof', but I used normal BDU's from Aussie Disposals with thermal underwear underneath. Walking through non-stop light showers and ferns up to my waist and I was fine. My feet/socks got a bit damp, but nothing a good fire couldn't fix.
