Duncs
The Ice Breaker gear that has been mentioned is a Snowgum exclusive I believe. Good gear (from NZ) but not cheap as they've headed down the fashion road as well as being functional. But, like people say, its good gear. stvn
I use thermals my old man got when he served in the US military, 10 minutes with them on and I'm taking my jacket off.
gafloss
As some of the others have said, I like the reasonably priced polypropylene thermals. Not only are they warm but they are light & dry really quickly. I don't feel the cold as much as many so I can't bring myself to part with big dollars for something I won't wear very often. Farmgirl
I was trying out my thermal top with a merino wool macpac top over it today. It was extremely windy outside and I was pleased to find that the wind did not penetrate the tops at all. And once you get moving and generate some heat from inside your body it's even warmer. The good thing with the merino wool is that it breathes and you don't get sweaty.
