Belligero
Hi Guys, Just about to get my license again for target / hunting as I let it expiry a few years back. The reason for me getting my license again is that I have been asked to help a farmer out with his fox issue up around the Newcastle (NSW) area. I am looking to purchase some camouflage gear however a little bit stuck on what colours I should be aiming for. Also if anyone has any good websites or stores that sell camo gear that would be a great help also. Checked out what I could find on eBay / google search but thought I would give this a shot also. fenring
Just look at the terrain you are going to be hunting. Foliage, dry grass, rocks, ferns, etc - and pick a camo that not only has a similar pattern but a similar shade of light or dark. Not much point wearing a dark woodland or mossy oak pattern in light coloured dry grass etc. I have various military stuff from Auscam to US digital MARPAT to some of the Ridgeline gear. Fireman_DJ
I tend to stick to AusCam. It's designed for Australian conditions and works really well. I recall watching a mate slowly stalk up on some game. I could see his jumper (non-camo) but couldn't see his legs at all due to AusCam pants. optic
Im not sure about other folks but i have 3 different types of cammo. Reason being is we have different seasons that have different colors. Not much point hunting dry country in something that does not match or blend in. And i also use Auscam. In the right country it is bloody hard to see. Dont forget the blaze hat or whatever, because you cant been seen at times. You also need to keep in mind we have hot and cold weather, so you cam gear either needs to be warm or cool. Buy once, pay the money and you wont be sorry. Dont forget your hands or your face, they are a dead give away just as your barrel is. Cam them up. In my mind one set isnt enough. Thats why i have 3 sets. (might be 4) 5 different types of blaze and a hat. Sam hunt Vic, has a great blaze cammo top on the market. 2 Birds with one stone. Cotton i think? In the end it is your call on what you do, my advice is go visit a shop that has all the brands on show. Then shop around for what suits your budget. Dont forget the blaze it is just as important as you cammo.
