Hunting Clothing

Recommended Posts

My stuff is all sorts of brands. Whatever’s on special at the time normally but I’ve got a lot of SamHuntVic gear because it’s great value and it works.

I don’t tend to go stalking in heavy rain so others might have preferences for more severe weather hunting

i've found thermal bottoms with dry seat shorts and gaiters great. fleece jumper when it cool works well, decent warmth and lightweight, thermal top if its really cold or sit and wait. (this is for sambar hunting)

i could probably improve a bit with some of my clothing, so maybe ill pickup some tips out of this thread too.

warm, lightweight, low bulk and durability are all high on my priority list.

Yeah cheers lads, I normally just run the tradie cargo pants and shirts etc (sandy / khaki colours) which aren’t so bad when stationary but do some walking and not so much.. for me anyway..
Will keep and eye out for sales 👍🏻

For the tropics.......I pretty much just use khaki or green cool wear clothing from the safety clothing shops now, they specialise in cool wear clothing for the tropics and you can try them on before you buy.

If bow hunting I have some Natural gear, the pants are great, the shirts are too thick for the tropics.

Also been experimenting with shorts and knee high gaitors, when its raining or the long grass is wet I think this maybe the way to go because the gaitors don't hold water.

Ohh nearly forgot, most importantly, Step One boxers to avoid jock rot and monkey butt 😀 that will ruin any day in the bush haha

Another thing to think about is what you wash your gear in. Most popular washing detergents have brighteners in them which (I’m told) make them far more visible to animals. Which isn’t really what we want :)

I use “sports wash” which is brightener free

High-quality gear allows your body's perspiration to pass through, keeping you dry and free from the frost. The second layer of clothing that is advised is (jacket, pants, t-shirt, gloves, and hat).

My go-to brand is Hunter Element, which are built with high-tech materials to be strong, light, and useful.
