SD Card Stolen by Trespassers

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone

I was checking the trail cameras along the edge of our property today and noticed the SD card in one of them was missing.

Every now and then I forget to put one back in, or grab the wrong-sized cards and have leave one empty, but was certain I'd made sure this camera in particular had a card.

Upon inspecting footage on the next camera down the trail have three people (probably a father and two teen sons) walking along the trail. I'd assume they were the ones who pinched the SD card but didn't see the second camera which has got their faces on picture and video.

What do you do in this situation?

If the picture you have of the trio is taken on your land you could just drop into the local copshop and make them aware you have had trespassers. They may know them.

Grant.

I carry a step, which straps to the tree, or a climbing stick, so I can set the cameras up high. So it's less likely to be detected, or if someone does see it, they're really going to have to work to get the camera.

Quite a few years ago iirc it was on the OZ DEER site where #### cut the ing tree down to steal the camera. Another bloke had his security cables cut with a battery grinder.

Dogs are dogs and they are all over.

An option, not that I'm necessarily recommending it, is to post their photos on suitable faceache group(s).  Might deter them from doing it again.

I got to check the cameras again and two SD cards were stolen from other cameras. One was on the edge of the property and the other was right in the middle of our paddock - so people have been around again.

I can imagine this would be very annoying. I once set a trail camera up on a farm to assist with trespassing/illegal activity. I had cameras over tracks, but then set up a second camera to watch the initial trail camera. I did set camera up very high, above eye level, and so they were hard to get at, it worked.

Most of the issues were coming from dodgy farm workers

ARSEHOLES!!  Post up those face photos I reckon. Local faceache pages, SSAA & ADA pages as well. Someone will recognise them. Give them to the local coppers too.
