Gibbo
Hi, I am new to archery and have just bought a few carbon arrows from e-bay. Rather than make the hike down to the archery store to have them cut to size is there any effective way of doing this at home? Thanks Leigh
jindydiver
You need a cutting wheel, a dremel or a metal drop saw are the most commonly used. I use a 4 inch grinder with a thin cutoff wheel. The grinder is in a mount to make it a small drop saw. Be sure to wear eye protection and a dust mask when cutting the carbon shafts. Waldo
You will get a finer cut if you use a diamond tip tile cutting blade and stick it in a small angle grinder, a ceramic tile saw is even better because you can turn the saw upside down and roll the arrow around to get a smooth cut all way round. Wrap a bit of masking tape around the shaft on the non off-cut side of the cut, it stops tearing a little and gives you a nice line to cut to.
