  1. I've read in shooting magazines of people using a climbing chair to get up to a good vantage point ,Maybe near a game trail or wallow and waiting for game to come by.

Has anyone used one? or know of anyone using one?

Make a good new toy for the hunter who has everything :)

  2. Ok I bought a 7 gun Bronze series Buff River safe from Barry's for $375. The 5 gun bronze was $295. The 5 gun Silver was $399 and the 7 gun silver was about $450. I don't remember what the 10 gun safes were in either class though. I couldn't fit the bloody thing in my car though, so had to drive home and get the trailer and go back to pick it up.

I'm happy. Between that and my existing 5 gun, I'll have plenty of capacity for the future. :D :D

I was gonna get another 5 gun Buff bronze series at Cleaver for $250, but saw their 7 gun for $309, so bought one yesterday. Now I'll have room for the Lanber 12G O/U when my PTA comestongue.gif

And I haven't got any military rifles, or in between calibres lol

  3. first you download shonkymaps from the internet. http://shonkylogic.net/shonkymaps/

you install the software that came with your gps on your pc. (Mapsource)

then you open the shonkymaps file into mapsource, select the area of Australia that you want or the whole thing.

and click 'transfer to device' - you should have your gps connected to pc.

thats it, as i understand you can only have 1 map active on the device at the one time.

    cheers

    TM

That's the way I did it, got the whole of australia on Shonkey :P

  4. Anyone out there got a suitable method of protecting your hearing while hunting? I've got Peltor stereo ear muffs which I use at the rifle range, and they work great, but I don't want to walk around the bush wearing them for half a day while hunting. I think it unlikely that in the heat of the moment, you've seen an animal you want to shoot, that you're gonna take off your back pack, fish out your ear muffs and then take the shot. In all the hunting magazines I've read, no one talks about this issue, everyone seems to walk around unprotected, and just take the shots when available. I suppose you could have ear plugs in your shirt pocket and stick em in before shooting, but that delay might cost you the animal.

My hearing is stuffed already from using machinery without ear protection and I think my .308 blasting next to my ears is gonna take what's left.

What do youse guys do?
