This year I feel like I have progressed to the point where I can actually offer a decent knife, and have sold a couple of knives when people have asked me to make them a specific pattern they have wanted made. Next year I will probably book a table at one or two of the state knife shows and actually exhibit knives for sale.

Mate as someone who salf-taught myself from zero to become quite decent at website building and graphic design I applaud your effort and skill as I can appreciate how much research, trials, persistence, work and effort you put in, in order to get to this level.

As a keen collector of knives I would not hesitate to buy a knife from you based on the craftsmanship and quality of the one from the above photos.

    Well done!

  2. chasing rabbits on a property, with it on full power it will last approximately 35 minutes

but even if it lasts longer, it makes no sense to design it like that, imagine how many people bought spare rechargeable batteries for the old models, and then go on and purchase new model of javelot thinking they can use all those spare batteries they have,  not realising these muppets from olight changed design without actually clearly stating that in their description.
Its actually deception of sort, because in description it says it uses same batteries as old models, but what it does not clearly say is that those batteries are completely sealed and can not be removed from spotlight body on new models.
And then when you decide to swallow that hard pill and decide to buy another sealed replacement pack, it does not tell you on their website that the bloody thing needs to be fully assembled for it to recharge.

What's the point of buying replacement pack then? Things like this just do my head in as you can tell :)

  3. Javelot are good, but old versions where we could carry spare batteries and just replace batteries as needed whilst in the field.

In new models you can not replace the batteries. It is a sealed unit. You can purchase another battery pack instead of spare batteries, which is just a sealed javelot body without head.

What's even more stupid about this setup is that even if you purchase a replacement (spare) battery pack, it can not be charged unless the head of torch is screwed on to it, rendering it useless.

    Just ridiculous ....

I returned my new model and got my money back. Whoever come up with this stupid design should have his/hers head examined.

  4. yep, lets all get in NASA designed space suits for hunting, particularly if hunting in winter ...  ?

I reckon most people overthink this. Just wear whatever you have and whatever keeps you warm or cool, depending on the outside elements.

  5. I tried number of different brands, as part of my work, from army types to tactical ones, and then all sorts of hunting ones ... and settled on this in the last few years

    https://steelblue.com/au/product/argyle/

I know ... some may laugh, but as I said, I had Danners, Magnums ets etc ... But I find Argyle from SteelBlue to be most comfortable for my feet at the moment.

Similar to what sambarstalker said, sometimes just a pair of workboots work the best.

Argyle also sells the same boot with zipper on the side.

  6. Joe Kerr apart from issues in regards to paying the bill and very expensive calls, I don't see how to sat phone company is at fault if the place you are calling is not able to receive the calls? As you said, satellite was receiving your signal and forwarding it on, but people could not answer. Its not sat phone fault, but as you said they should not charge you for those calls.

I guess it is a the same scenario if for example you smash your mobile phone and I try to contact you. Obviously I would not be able to, but it's not my mobile phone carrier fault. I am not sure if they would charge me though. Probably would.

Interesting how nobody from the group thought of trying to call someone else and then get them to try and check the station you were calling...
