  2. I got a double bonus yesterday, not only did i gain a wife.

But the gear i wanted arrived with 1 of the guests from NZ.

    Socks and the 36.6 top.

The boys gave the gear a check over before they devoured the Pheasant pies and duck balls..

I tried the top on today, and you can feel the difference straight away.

It totally cuts the wind factor out on the top of your body.

From now on, ill be dealing direct with NZ.

The quality is spot on. And its cheap compared to AU.

Farmlands, Outfit, Its a Co Op.

    A wife? :)

There's even photos to prove it
  3. Melissa went out yesterday and bought a new tent.It will take 40 minutes to set up,about the same to pack up,and sleeps 12.I now have 6 tents at home. What a waste.I would go the swag any day of the week.Actually, for anything longer than 3 nights,I use one of the army tents from the scout hall.Simple to erect and pack, and has heaps of room.

Now,how did you go with your swag exercise Optic.

  4. I ve just bought a Kulkyne Swag in the big boy model looks the same as the boab plenty of ventilation and takes bugger all to set up and a good price as well.

Bought mine direct from their online store www.kulkyne.com

Just had a look myself, they look ok,a very good price as well.

  5. Anaconda has a good range of swags as well.

Swags are warm in summer, just like any tent, and require lots of fly screen area in summer if you wish to stay a little cooler.Maybe see if you can find one that has a mesh flap at the foot end as well.My Wild River swag has mesh down to about the waist, and on a hot night,my legs sweat a little bit.

  6. Spot on Joe.

I think at my front door when it was dropped. Thats the corner that was on the paving.

    Bloody p!ssed off.

I used a trolly to move it, so if it was carried i can understand him loosing it on the way down.

Ill use it as a template for what i want to do.

Major work to take place with that frame as the base.

On the bright side i scored a sheet of SS today free which ill use for the internal water tank.

Well not quite free, had to weld up this bloody big Ally framed tile cutter.

I hate that stinking stuff, about as good as Gall.

I'd rather the aluminium over the 12 metre long duragal gate I am building at the moment

  7. G'day fellas

What brand or who makes a good quality leather belt.

one that i can change belt buckles on.

Im sick of facken broken belts and buckles.

so im on a mission to find one good one. genuine leather not the bullsh!t pleather stuff that spits and delaminates.

i need to be able to fit different buckles on it as well as its going to be the one and only belt i own

    any one got any ideas???

I want this one to last a long time. nothing in this day and age of break and buy another crap.

    RM Williams?

    anything else?

OR where could i get some good leather to make my own?

anyone else made their own before? any pics?

    Cheers cam

why don't you get some para chord and lace one up like Phil did?

  8. For hunting gear for the cold,it's hard to go past polar fleece for it's price and warmth.Ridgeline is a good start.Thermals under your cloths is a good idea as well.I use thermals under some light hunting gear,as I find the polar fleece can get to warm when the sun comes up.At the other end of the scale is Stoney Creek for one, better gear with a price to match.I prefer Stoney Creek gear, especially there micro tough pants.

  9. Thanks guys, ill look into outback canvas cam. thanks ozride but $600 is a bit pricey, poor uni student over here lol

A swag won't cost you $600 from Southern Cross Canvas. They are in Bayswater on Canterbury Rd.

  10. Plenty of different packs to choose from, just work to your budget, and get something that suits your requirements.I use a Stoney Creek Day Pack.It is 15 litres,so not to big,but I carry an extra pillow case that can be used as an extra carry bag if successful. And if you are like me,and sweat a bit, have you thought about buying an undergarment that helps to take the sweat from your body so you stay a bit more comfortable.I often wear a powderdry thermal top from Stoney Creek, and an airmesh shirt(if I can find it again)with a polar fleece jacket on top. This keeps me warm and dry,so I can keep hunting all day(not that that happens to often these days).

  11. This is something you will have to work out as you become familiar with your hunting area.Using the call, you want to be in a gully head that looks down onto vegetation,or even better,a creek. This means that you will need to monitor the wind direction, and you will need to set up accordingly. The same goes for sitting over a carcass.Sit off to the side of the carcass, making sure that you are familiar with the surroundings, and the likely spots a fox will appear from. They like to stay in cover most of the time,so keep that in mind when searching for likely areas.

  12. That like asking what size gun do I need. What will you be powering off it.If only charging, then you will only need a 150 watt inverter, but if you plan on running drills and grinders, then a 2000 watt inverter would be the go.You need to work out what you will be using, how much power it will draw, and then go from there.

Having said that" would spend as much as I could afford, get it hard wired in,and enjoy some of the comforts of home.

  13. I suppose it depends on how cold you it will be when you are hunting.Stoney Creek have a Sambar Jacket, that seems to be a little to warm for the Victorian bush, while there Sika Jacket would be more suitable.Ridgleline have a good range of cold weather gear, and it's hard to go past the polar fleece hunting packages they offer. If you are intending to wear thermals though, then you won't need anything to heavy. In the Wonnangatta we had -4c mornings. With thermals top and bottoms,I was able to stay warm enough wearing Stoney Creek micro tough pants and a ridgleline top, with a SamHuntVic blaze jacket on top.It was my feet that were feeling the cold, even though I was wearing explorer socks, the thermal rating of my boots wasn't enough to keep out the cold.

  14. I get my hunting boots from Aussie Disposals.I wear Trail single leather upper boots.I had the only dry feet after a day of hunting in the drizzle on the first Gatta trip. There were a few guys there that had some fancy US hunting boots, and all had wet feet.Make sure the boots you choose don't have to many stitched panels,as that is the first place the water will get in.I think my boots were $140 when I got them.

  15. Remember when the old AM CB's went from 18 channels to 40? The first 18 channels of the 40 channel units were the same, so people slowly changed over during the following 5 to 10 years.

I have a perfectly good 40CH Uniden AM unit sitting in its box somewhere here. Barely used too.

When I was living in Healesville,me and some of my friends had AM CB set up in the house so we didn't have to use the phone. It saved a fortune in phone calls, because the wifes could rabbit on for hours to whoever for free.It was like call conferencing some nights. And all without having the need for the latest and greatest in communication equipment.I would still buy a 40 channel UHF,as they will still be able to be used after the 80 channel comes in.If you are talking to a hunting mate or between vehicles, then you only need 1 channel.
