  1. Hey there guys and gals,

I'm lookin' at getting a DIY HID kit for my Lightforce 240 handheld off of ebay.

Has anyone on here done this? If so, where on earth did you fit the ballast so it wasn't in the way and does the red filter still work for foxes with the HID globe?

Kind of new to HID, so any help is appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Shadow

Mate Ive got the 170mm Hand held striker HID lightforce. Fickin amazing light output from those things... Let us know how the 240mm goes as I bet it would kick butt on the 170. These HID light are crazy!

The red filters will diminish light that's for sure because that's what red filters do.

  2. Thnaks for all the tips guys. Seens layering is the best form of warmth. I might get some Fleece pants and just layer up on shirts and jackets. ITs more for night time and spotlighting when your not moving much and get cold.

Bugger standing on the back of the ute in winter.... way to cold lol

  3. Hi guys whats the bes clothing for Cold weather gear?

I have thermals but no really good thick winter jacket etc. What types of Jackets + thermals do you guys recomend? I purchased a russian trappers head gear with face mask for really cold weather to cover the face and mouth and ears etc.

Are there any type of materials recommended for pants or jackets etc?

  4. Looking for a long range rifle mounted torch to put on a 243, I have a full time job and a small farm and am looking at a good torch that I can just mount on the rifle and leave it there for the duration of lambing, I have a company vehicle that would not impress management if I belted a hole through the roof for a spotlight and find suction caps type remotes a bit bulky to keep in the ute and move when the foxes will not sit for long. Generally I find them with a light force 170 and rest over my arm but I would like something that lines up with the rifle and spotlight centre when I am by myself, also will use it for a bit of walking and whstling. At this stage I have narrowed a choice down to the obvious wolfeyes sealion hunter but was wondering if a solarforce masterpiece with the turbo pro 1 thrower head or the solarforce 1200 would be as good or better, the solarforce units seem to be 1/2 the price. I am happy to pay for the wolfeyes if it is that much better, anybody have any experience with these light or have seen them compared. Looking for maximum distance, already have 1 cheapy for the 22 that works ok. any comments appreciated.

    Cheers hairyback

mate go to Deal Extreme Web Site they have aweosme deals on torches and betteries etc.... i vouch for them and so do alot of people on this site

  5. this is the one i have ----> Recoil Thrower

In my opnion its the best touch i have. Little to know light spill and its geat easily out to 150 metres on those foxes. Make sure you get the charger and the re chargables as they are costly to buy the duracell or energiser throw aways are about $10 each. So if you need 2 its going to be $20. Rechargables are the way to go

  6. Yep, those will both do just fine on a budget. The WF008 throws a very tight spot a long way.

    Charger:

    Batteries: http://www.dealextre...ls.dx/sku.20392

Nylon scope mount: http://www.dealextre...ls.dx/sku.12000 Will work fine with both the torches shadowassassin posted, and scopes up to about 50mm. Can also atach to barrel, or even a shotgun barrel/

Adaptor (the charger above has a US style plug) http://www.dealextre...ils.dx/sku.2296

I have all that listed. I purchased 3 tourch mounts in case one broke... cost me under $30 for it all. The WF-008 is the best recoil thrower.... I love mine... Id say it wips the wold eyes. I havent had it long enough yet to see how it fares long term but thus far for $20 im stoked!

  7. I decided a i needed as skinning knife as i dont currently have one in my arsenal. I heard good things about Havalon Knives and there replaceable scalpel blades. I got it today and it seems pretty sturdy and is sharp as hell.

Anyone got one and how do they like theirs?

I might try skinning a few rabbits aswell this weekend and see how it fares.
