  1. Mate my recommendation on swags is that a cheap swag is false economy. Yes you can get a cheapie for $150, but it will probably only last you a year or two, and will fail in difficult conditions such as high wind or heavy rain, the stiching will start to come apart, the waterproofing will fail etc, etc. Or you could spend a bit over double that price, and have a good quality product that will see you through ten years or more in every weather condition. So if you can hold off a bit until you get the money to get something quality, you will get much more use, and value out of it.
  2. Second vote for King Size Single. Just that fraction more than a single, but nowhere near as big and bulky as a double. And that fraction more makes all the difference when it comes to comfort.
  3. Mate, I love my Garmin Etrex. It's never let me down. But if it did fail, I know I am carrying a topographic map, a compass, and the knowledge to navigate with them. A GPS should always be considered a back-up system to compliment competent navigation skills, not the primary navigation tool. Not preaching to you: I don't know your skills, its just that I have been involved in too many searches for people who have gone bush with their brand new GPS, no competencies or common sense and little else.
