  1. That scope is a spoting scope. And that is all that it is.

Mine has a great range, but that all depends on what tube you end up getting.

Its pot luck if you get a good one, and i mean a good one which mine is.

I have several N/V types of gear, only one is made to suit a rifle.

The head mounted unit i use on foxes is only used with a 22.

Due to eye relief. And kick back.

  2. Hi mate we have moved on from the night scope, which will cover 600 yards easy.

We now use head mounted gear.

This is an expensive toy. Parts came from all over the world to get a unit.

And it took some time to get it right.

But with my head N/V i can walk up to a fox and drop it between the eyes with a 22.

But again it is expensive stuff.

You need to chat to the other half of our plan, i only put the stuff together, he is the inventor.

From what i hear he is working on gear for the cops and others.

But it works and it works well.

    best of luck.

  3. Thats all well and good Cam but my LSG is 7hr drive from here.

There is some moisture on the inside but they are too good to toss.

I dont mind paying for them to be fixed.

    Whistler

If they are wet on the inside mate they are not that good a pair.

    Seals gone off somewhere.

Have a go at it yourself, what harm can you do?

Check the seals out and make sure they have lube where it counts.

  4. These Russian scopes are very cheap and work quite good . I have two of the R015 three part collapsible . I paid $20 each for mine . They come in a compact hard plastic carry case with shoulder strap . For casual range shooting and sighting in they work good and are cheap enough to loose , I left one at the range one time and no body even stole it because they do look like a total piece of crap but the ones I got anyway have good optics . http://www.russianop...e7.html#optical Not sure I would give the Ruskies my credit card but they seem to have pay pal which would be much safer . I bought mine from Horsley park one time. At $39 each plus postage it is not a big amount to risk and if they are still as good as mine are then it is a great buy. Just make sure you open a Pay Pal account and use that to pay. Just note that they are out of stock at the moment , so wait until they say they have stock

There you go if its cheap enough then go for it.

But unless you are going pro on the targets, go for a cheap spotter.

When i say pro in talking 600 yards + .thats when a spotter scope pays its dues.

  5. Back Packs are like women hard to find a good one that suits your purpose.

They also get you hot and sweaty. And can give you the craps.

My big pack is not a hunting pack at all, it has a frame that keeps it off your back a great waist band and adjustable chest strap.

I spent a day at Anaconda trying out packs, And i mean a day. It was a sale day 50% off.

I took each and every one that i thought may be what i wanted filled them up with stuff to give them some weight.

Then wandered around with it on.

The final decision was made by elimination, but it took a day and time well spent IMO.

I have a number of back packs for different things.

But this one im talking about is the most comfy.

It is not a camo hunting pack, it is a hiking pack.

Grant has some good back packs.

  6. Pay the kids to pick them out. Mine charged me 50 cents a leg.......until they realized there was better money helping mum in the house :angry2:

    post-2703-0-26543100-1333230107_thumb.jpg

50Cents? crist thats child labour rates, no wonder mum is a better deal.

Feel assured next time you ask, it may well be expensive after all you have to wear them.

At what price? and what price do you put on your comfort?

Be like ants in ya jocks.

  7. Im a bit anal about what goes near my knifes.

And that includes people using them.

There are a heap of things on the market cam.

They all work, but do they damage the blade by removing to much metal.

Also do they let the blade get hot, because if it changes color its rooted.

Thats why i use the set up i have, im sure you have seen it in action?

I dont have to worry about heat or the angle.

Look back through old posts and you will see some of us have close to the same bit of kit.

The same idea what ever the make up is.

    Altona Hunter.

made this jig a couple of years back for sharpening kitchen knives and machettes. I have been planning to make a better one with rollers and proper clamps as i have a milling machine now but it does the job for now. I use a lansky sharpener with diamond stones for smaller knives.

I have never met this bloke, but there is little difference in out sharpeners.

The last thing i ever want is a run in with one of my knifes. Thus the steel glove.

  8. Do any of you notice a heat build up inside from the car fridge while traveling?

If so have you come up with a way of transferring it to out side without cutting big holes in the car?

I have decided to go for a 3 way fridge, mainly due to the fact that the option to use gas while in camp makes more sense.

And they work the best off gas so im told?

Spent some time at ARB, who dont make a 3 way, but they do have good looking pack racks and awnings.

Can i get some feed back on other makes that you guys may be using?

Next im also after a good UHF antenna for car, any suggestions on a make and model to suit a GME 5 watt.

And if you can help with a make of driving light that does not cost $500.00 that would also help.

last but not least, has any one fitted an over head console to a 2001 patrol, I would rather fit the radio up out of the way than in the dash.

Or if you can steer me in the right direction so i can look at overhear consoles for the patrol.

    Cheers and thanks.

  9. Had it about 5 years.

It is scarey just how fast it can get up a tree, to a great height.

But it is safe. And they give the best view of the land.

They all come with an approved harness which is more trouble than the chair.

Death by these things in the states is high.

They also come with a video.

And a knife built into them to cut yourself free

    Strangulated death from the harness.

Mind you its not that cold here, but they can kill.

Look into them before you decide and also work out a plan should you fall out of it.

I have a rope attached to mine.

They are a great thing but you spend more time frigging with the harness than the chair.

I gave the harness away, just to much trouble moving it up the tree then the chair then it and so on.

I have the harness attached to the chair now and not the tree with a rope off the chair.

    Have fun.

  10. Had a pair of steiner.

Couldn't wait to get rid of them and i was happy to lose money on the deal.

You need to look through them prior to purchase.

My eyes did not suit the steiner.

I did the Russian thing and other makes.

Spent a bloody fortune on binos. Then gave them away as gifts to farmers.

In the end i found a set of Carsons 10x50.

    Suited me to a tee.

And i know a few blokes that have used mine have also gone out and got a set of Carsons.

Not expensive at all and they are available here.

    This crowd also make scopes.

In the end you need to try before you buy.

    Best of luck with it.

  11. Hi all,

I'd like to present an amazing iPhone and Android app for hunting in a group.

Disclaimer: I am one of the developers of this app

    It has:

    - Map. Powered by Google Maps it shows GPS position and orientation as well as movement direction and speed of other hunters

    - Cam. Provides augmented reality browser to see other hunters and distance to them

    - Hits. Saves your hits(shots) info of fowl or animal (goose, deer etc) for further reference. Hits can be uploaded to the web and be accessed via web site. The info is private.

There is also sunrise/sunset info and hunting-related links

    Website: http://actinnature.com

    Android: https://market.andro...nnature.hunting

    iPhone: http://itunes.apple....d438678661?mt=8

We'd appreciate any feedback of using the app, use it for free.
