  3. Thanks boys and Girls, just picked up the Uniden UH078SX 5w handheld UHF of EBAY and it comes with the Car Cradel so happy with that. With a bit of luck it will do the job. Appreciate the help.
  4. Check this site out http://www.accurateshooters.com.au I have one of the P3-250's and it is great. Under $100 comes with 2 mounts and I have been out shooting bunnies from about 100m out. Lasts for ages and ahad a great write up After reading this review I purchased one and havnt been out with the Lightforce Scope mount for ages. Worth the read!! and worth every penny. http://www.australianhunting.net/AHN_Journ...he%20Lumens.htm
  5. Fireman DJ, that unit sounds great! Ill be intirested in your thoughts on it if and when you get one.
  6. Some great replies here guys. I really appreciate it. Cheers
  7. Gos, Thanks heaps for the responses. You have answered everything I needed to know. I know during the season, we will have 4 of us hunting the same large property (say 10,000ha) so may want to stay in comms but what you say makes sense. If you hear a shot, the radio goes on to hear the score. And then I assume scheduled check in times for safety reasons. Shopping time. Cheers
  8. Thanks Guys, Gos you say that UHF doesn’t work so well in "non line of site" areas, so how and why do so many use it in the bushlands? The rest I understand but this I am still not sure about. Are you just saying that a higher powered radio will penetrate better? What is your opinion of the distance you should expect in the Aussie bush with the UHF device you use? Also, my other question was in regards to radios while stalking. Do you just turn them off or do you use a headset? Thanks again
  9. Hi all, It seems that the more groups I join, the more important it seems to be to stay in touch in the bush. I know nothing about UHF/ VHF radios or what to get, I have never had one in my vehicle so need some advice. I am not so much looking for the models or prices people have paid, just the features I should be looking for. Do you get UHF / VHF in one unit, if not, is one more common than the others. Does one have better range. What’s the go while you are hunting generally? Do you use and headset with your handheld to stop the noise in the bush or do you generally just have check in times? All Basic Questions I know but I have never hunted in groups and now I seem to be getting into it more What else do I need to know. Cheers People 
  10. Hi All, Thought I would do this again as I have not been to the site in 2 years. I am 30, live near Toowoomba and was a keen hunter as a kid. Taking it back up 2 years ago I have the bug back big time. Keen to hook up with a few other locals (or kinda locals) to trade secret spots Enjoy a night spot for Bunnies and Fox’s as well as the weekenders and full on trips for Pigs, Goats and Deer. Spent a couple of years building up some gear, 22lr, 223rem, 270 and finally the missing puzzle piece, the Land Cruiser. Take it easy
  11. I ended up with the Night Force. It is big but it has a great beam!! What life do you get out of the MAGlight you have epitome? The main reason I went for the battery pack is that it would last a fair while while out and about. Well thats the plan anyway!
  12. Yeah good call. I have the option of trialing gear so will give it a go Cheers
  13. Read this thread yesterday and headed down the shop to check the Night Force out in person. He just happened to talk me into it so I went home to try it out. Very nice to work with, cant believe I hadn’t seen these before. Lovin it. Look out Bunnies ;-)
  14. Hi there, my name is Hulrs and I have recently moved to Toowoomba QLD. I have only been hunting once in AUS but spent much time in the NZ bush. I am looking forward to hitting the scrub but in the mean time am doing a lot of reading to try and select a good hunting Riffle. Any tips will be greatly received as I am looking for a good alrounder for Australian Game. Happy Hunting Hurls
