  2. Ok, Thanks Bob, The contact work on UHF not VHF i think. Supposed to recieve better signal. What sort of country ya running them in Bob? You on pig dogs or hounds? Were did you get yours from Bob? Cheers Rimfire
  3. Thanks no bull The borrowed tracker may have a problem as you suggest, I wasnt trying to put down tracker just jotted down my experience and what other people, such as yourself thought. The scanner I used did a good job for me, I found dogs that went long a couple of times when experimenting with it. Thanks for your response and advice and I will give you a call, Cheers Rimfire
  4. Thanks No Bull, Get good range with the scanner and hand held yagi antenna, although still learning to use it. Yes better range than Tracker factory reciever. Only gets a km on flat country I recon, less than that if dogs in slight hollow. Scanner gets reading 3km most times. (Tried new batteries in reciever) What I mean is if you cant get a reading with the tracker reciever which is easy to carry. I can usually get a reading from the scanner and antenna which is usually in the ute because its arkward to carry around. Head off from ute in direction of best signal from scanner, then will usually pick em up with the tracker reciever when gone in that direction for a while. Am chasing up foxhounds and beagles and they can get out quick if fox/hare dosnt circle up. Basically just wanted to know, in your experience if some collars have better signal strenth than others, and who in oz might distrubte them. Cheers Rimfire
  5. No Bull, No worries your advice/experience is gratefully taken on board. Ive actually got an Alinco scanner and hand held antenna im experimenting with. Seems to track borrowed Tracker collars OK. Better range than Tracker reciever but also obviously more arwkward to carry. Good back up if handheld is not getting signal. So probably compliment each other. Just havnt got the $ at the moment to have both of my own. Got any advice on collars you recon has best signal strenth and distributor in Oz? No worries if you you dont want to answer on the forum Cheers Rimfire
  6. Thanks No Bull, Do you know who distributes Wildlife collars in Aus? Approximate cost for the magnum convertable? Cheers Rimfire
  7. No Bull, Thanks for the update. Ive also found out, It is also a problem if they need to be returned for repair or battery change, no used/soiled equipment will be allowed back into Aus by Quarantine. Mark, do you know the model of the wildlife colars that give good range. Cheers Rimfire
  8. Thanks Mark, Opps,It was actually Marshal not Wildlife collars that didnt have the 151 Band, How did your wildlife collars go? Thanks all again for info, Rimfire
  9. Thanks fellas, It looks like no problems, Ill give it a go I recon. Mark, you mention Wildlife collars, did ya get em in 151 Band? My contact there said they didnt have 151 anymore. They seem to be the most popular in the states and most pricey Balty, do ya recon its worth me going through a customs clearance broker to handle the paperwork? Cheers and thanks again for your info, very much appreciated, Regards Rimfire
  10. Any one had any experience importing tracking collars? Johnson telemetry have a sale starting Sept, Collars $100US They have the 151 freq legal for tracking here and dont seem to be a prohibited import going by the Customs web site. (Shock collars are prohibited item) Any comments/experience with this would be appreciated, Cheers Rimfire
  11. In the market for tracking collars for hounds and beagles. Seems to be varying opinions on what whats good and whats not. Mostly from people who are only going on hear say, (my mate recons, etc.) Country I hunt is heavily timbered in places but not real hilly Anyone with real on ground experiences got any clues? Cheers Shayne
