Bullcat
I do a lot of shooting out of the 4WD with my .223 and I`m thinking of getting a good pair of ear muffs. I`ve got no idea what would be a good value for money, pair to get. Any suggestions?
demo9pro
Ear plugs work fine. $3 from the chemist. You can also get the ones you use when using a jackhammer or something. just go to the local hardware (about $15) should get you some.
len
If you are after good quality standard earmuffs have a look at the peltor range Make sure that the earmuffs that you buy for rifle shooting have the scalloped section on the bottom half of each muff so that you can shoulder your rifle without the muffs getting in the way Your local gun shop should have some that you can look at. Ear plugs are good but if you are taking them out and putting them back in a few times they can be a pain The electronic earmuffs are good because they allow you to wear them all the time because they only cut out the loud noises but allow voices to come through I bought a pair of electronic muffs from the states that amplify low noises but also reduce loud noises such as gunshots to a low level - these allow you to turn up low noises such as someone whispering or game making noises so that you can hear them better cheers Len
Robbo .308
I have shot for years with no ear protection at all............NOT A GOOD IDEA! I can tell that my hearing has gone down hill from not wearing ear muffs. I am going to wear them all the time now. You should be able to get a pair from the gun shop or just the hardware store.
