  1. Is this the same thing? Just pick it up in the LGS. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  2. Hey guys ,just after a bit of advice/ feedback. Worn the harness twice, first time I noticed it was a lot warmer than I thought it would be, makes it hard to use the top cross strap on the backpack and I normally wear my rifle slung diagonally across my chest . Not as quiet as I imagined, but I guess a few more uses I'll work it out. Second time I didn't take the backpack, a lot lighter run but didn't have my creature comforts, pillow, water , rangefinder, head lamp knife , spare binos, wind indicator etc. hs Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  3. Hey thanks for the replies, ended up going some Kuiu pro bino harness instead of the HE, the fact they are waterproof and no need for additional raincover sold me, around the same $$. Rgds hs Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  4. Looking for recommendations on a harness, I was going to grab one of the Hunter element ones, maybe magnum size, but did read somewhere that they felt a little flimsy. Like to probably be able to put rangefinder and wind puffer in too mainly if I take the bow out. New binos are 160 x 137 x 65 Happy to hear everyone's thoughts, have you run the HE ones or others, pros n cons etc Cheers hs Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  5. Great to see all the different responses and see a bit of discussion . As we know specific binos suit specific occasions, hard to find a pair that covers most. I did try a few out that were around, Waldo, a pair of 6 x 32, and they were great , I was surprised how clear they were but wonder their low light performance and I'm chasing a bit more mag. Also a couple of pairs of 10 x 42's quite some difference in weight between them. Those rangefinding ones are nice, a bit $$$ for me . I just picked up a rangefinder mainly for the bow, but it has been handy to check some distances I've been guessing .Other than that the 06 is sighted at about 200m so I just point and shoot, if I have time to think I may hold over or under. In the end I pick up a pair of Athlon midas G2 UHD 10 x50. Mid range price , glass maybe similar or a bit better than vortex vipers. I'll send the damaged 8 x 42 Bushnell legend ultra hd's back to test out there bulletproof warranty, if they fix them they'll make a good back up or ones to carry. I normally have a spare pair in my pack. Cheers hs Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  6. The old bino question gets thrown up every now and then. I've got two semi busted binos 8x and 10x both 42's so was going to grab a new pair. My 8x are the best low light but the 10x can just see a bit more detail and are probably better suit to most of my glassing. So I was going to get 10 x 42 but last minute thought why not 10 x 50 to gain a little bit low light capability. That first and last 10 mins is when I see 90% of the deer Most of my hunts seem to be stalk into a spot and sit and wait , the little bit of extra weight I probably won't notice just sitting there. Any reason why not to go 10 x 50 ? Rgds hs Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  7. Those are decent bino and at a good price, the lifetime warranty is pretty good. As for rangefinder I just picked up a leupold fulldraw, I was tossing up between a leupold or vortex either would of been fine, the fulldraw just came up first on a buy swap sell site. Having fully multi coated lens is handy for low light conditions. I picked mine up mainly for bow hunting but it was fun to take out with the rifle just to see how good my guessing has been and now I know rough distances from point a to point be around the place. I don't take the rangefinder with me anymore ,the 3006 sighted in to 200m ,just point and shoot the distance I hunt. If hunting longer distances it would be an essential bit of kit. 8. I'd be looking for a pattern that breaks up your outline, a lot of those fancy patterns look good in the shop or walking down the street if that's your thing but you can just turn into one big blob out in the bush and the deer will spot your human upright shape still. If you scan a few posts on AH you will notice some take deer wearing whatever. Its more about slowing your movements and to be aware of the situation your in. If you do stop to glass, try and be behind something or slowly crouch down, etc. I wear an asat 3d top, hood/vale and gloves . hs Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  9. Quality glass is great and I'd love to justify it, but sometimes it's not $1000 better. The last light argument,Legal shooting times are half hour before and after sunrise/set. Those are not the last few minutes of light. Mid priced/quality glass would get the job done. Rifle scope and binos should have similar glass or you can see them in the binos and Jack sh#t when you look through your scope. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  10. See those huge savings on the bulk purchases ?
  11. Shhesh, I'm budget class[emoji30] . Slightly off topic. Are the bino harnesses worth it? For keeping em safe. I never put lens covers on my scope let alone binos. Most of the time my binos ride on the passenger seat or dash and then around my neck on the strap that came with them. I have never been hunting with anyone ever so havent had a chance to suss their gear.Like alot things you don't know what you been missing until you get one. So do you strap up? 12. I'm not that good at looking after my binos and am always using them so if I brougjt a $$$ pair I'd be to scared to pull them out in fear I'll wreak them. Rangefinder option ? Deer are a pretty big target , you can pretty much point and shoot at anything inside 300m, I hold a little high if stretching the 06 legs but never off fur. For me its a compromise , I'm sure the glass is great in the leading brands and I'd love a paur but cant justify it. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
  13. I have two pairs of bushnells 10 x 42 and 8x 42. My 8x hang around my neck , much better glass. If I sit up somewhere for awhile I'll pull the 10x out of the pack, with decent light you can see a whole lot more with 10x but as the light fades I slip em back in the pack and go back to my trusty 8x. They'll out see my scope in low light which cost a lot more. If I had a choice and glass was equal in both I'd go the 10x"s
  14. I have a deerlight , local guy goes out his way to help you out. 5 secs to mount. Seems to do the job. hs. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
  15. Yep. I'm always swapping them too. Had them in different cams before as well. Veiwing them on different computers too. Main problem is I usually have a couple in the coin pocket in my pants and the6 go through the wash. But now even with new batteries my stealthcam won't turn on. Should still be covered by warranty, not 12 months old yet. See what they say? hs Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
  16. Got one, dead now. Gotta send it back. Look at "new toy" in trailcam section
  17. Not much in my pack, they are a different mag, one pair works better in low light. they are vital to the way I hunt, so just back up. My hips are pretty big already. Walking I'll sling my rifle, stalking I'll carry it. A sling can be handy if you know how to use it to steady your aim.
  18. WL Most times I've felt the rifle slip and caught it but not this last time. I do check em but about every second time out it lets go. Slings cable tied on at the mo.[emoji2] Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
  19. Thanks, thought I would have to slit it, thought they'd come ready to go but I guess you can make it to suit. Blue is not a colour I like in the bush so I hide it in my pocket. Very handy if your sitting and waiting and feel that tickle in the back of your throat, subdues that cough. Ment to be good swivels but I find they slowly undue when I'm walking somehow. Might just put some black electrical tape on the new ones. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
  20. Thought I better get a pack to take a few things with me. Mainly I was after a camel pack so I would have water , but one thing I have learnt is you end up putting more stuff just becoz you can. I'm back to bare essentials now. Water. Back up binos. Stanley knife with disposable blades. Torch . Few extra bullets. From the LGS. I just got it to put the water in but it dosent even fit out the hole. Zippers are a bit noisey. Any ideas on how to work this? Am I ment to cut my own hole in the blue rubber bit? (Mouthpiece ) Rifle slings swivels keep coming undone ones now broken. Rifle got a good whack on the ground too, haven't shot it since, hope its still sighted in. LGS only stocks these. I got two more, might put tape on the new ones to stop coming undone. 21. a few hundred would get you a fairly decent pair. Prices skyrocket form there I reckon and the small gains in low light , clarity etc aren't worth it. Plus I'm pretty shit at looking after my gear. If you have the coin , do a little research get your hands on a few different pairs and pick the ones that feel best to you. Buying from a picture on the net or someone reveiw can be risky often things turn up and are not exactly what you want.
  22. Optic , For the cooler months I wear the Oringi socks, super comfy and don't slip down. Wear em in waders 20hrs/week. Run between $20-40 though. My nan still uses a machine like that. She gets me to put it on the dining room table when she needs it. To heavy for her to lift.
  23. 18k a day thats nearly a half marathon , wouldn't like to be your hunting buddy. That machine is a bit like your socks, made to last.
  24. Backpack or car for me, I hate things on my belt. I'd either lose it or fall on it.
  25. I think mines a deerlight, easy id's out to 200+. Forget what model I got but it focuses it down just to a small square beam.
