  1. I'll start the meeting with a safety share about sustainable living part 1: break down a sambar deer
  2. Definitely human error. Works fine while outside. Only when I am inside to connect to my laptop that the signal drops in and out. The only way I can see to solve this is to go camping and take my laptop with me - working from home somewhere.
  3. That is what I though. Will be interesting to see how it perform while hunting in the High Country.
  4. I was inside the house when it drop in and out will leave it outside and see
  5. Hope someone with a Garmin 750 rino can help me The GPS signal keeps on dropping out. Is there a setting I need to change?
  6. For interest, Spika are selling their frame as a stand alone item. Looks like good value.
  7. They say curiosity kill the cat, that is way I am a dead man walking Feedback on my ex usmc molle 2 supercheap custom backpack. One of my main concerns was that the harness had limited adjustment which is normally for the basic curve external frame backpack. To counter that, the belt is adjustable in height. There are three settings. Being South African, I am above average, but not tall, so I placed the belt at the max which works well. Weight on hips and curve at back, not a perfect fit, but good enough for what I want. Made three similar setup, small difference but the basis are the same. All three have a meat strap against frame, with second straps for bags. Water bladder are in separate bag attached to either the frame or the carry bag.
  8. I was thinking in the line of making lead bricks with a hole to bolt it to the floor, so instead of bolting down, I bolt up to hold the lead bricks in place, but like Duncan’s said, check the height of your weapon. i cannot bolt because I will be renting an unit in Melbourne, so 150kg safe or gun storage are my options
  9. Checking if anyone have modified a gun safe to be +150kg by adding weights to the bottom of the safe. Main reason is you then do not need to bolt it to a surface.
  10. They say curiosity killed the cat, but I am still curious. Any YouTube channellers on here. I am curious to know how many camera gear you carry and how long you hunt vs YouTubing No, I am not one, just curious, been watching a couple of Australia specific hunting channels. Camera work is general good quality - drones, distance shots, HD with good sound, so it means good gear which will take up space in a backpack.
  11. I’ll go to the local Evolution Gear dealer and see if the Pick n Pluck foam are reusable. Looks like it is on the photo, but will see.
  12. I sometimes travel with a golf bag and hand luggage, so the overall weight was never an issue, but I am sure that the golf bag was deem sporting equipment. I’ll swing by the Sunshine Coast Airport and asked them.
  13. I prefer the Evolution Gear case since the foam are reusable. The Pelican foam looks like you cut to suite the weapon which mean you need to buy new foam for a new gun. Not a big issue, more a flexibility/convenience option for me. Not sure about the Supercheap foam arrangement. All cases are around the 11kg mark. One get additional kg when travelling with ‘sport’ equipment, but there is still a limit. I’ll find out about if two people travel together, what weight limit their is. Am consider buy the bigger Evolution Gear case to fit two or three guns since it will be three in the vehicle.
  14. How did you get 264 likes in such a short time? And with only 16 views of the tread.
  15. End of buy the 4wd Supercentre 40L duffel bag. Cheap and for once the lightweight material from 4wd Supercentre made sense. My views is that I can strap any bag to a frame as long as it is well secure. Secure the meat to the frame and then secure the bag to the frame. Will add a waterproof cover to cover the whole bag. I also considered their cheap wheel bin bag. Perfect size, shaped to fit vertical and have strong straps. The delux one is PVC so heavier and have side pockets. I prefer the light cheap one. I may end up buying one to to test it.
  16. I am looking around for a hard case carry bag Found this one HD Series Rifle Hard Gun Case XL - Desert Tan After a hardcase since I can lock it to the drawer system and will then comply with the various States Gun Transport Laws. I have a lockable centre console safe for the bolt and bolt down ammo case. How are other transporting their guns?
  17. Did a couple of hours hiking with the bag around Noosa Heads NP this weekend. Sits well, need a couple of adjustments but will be able to balance it. Looking to add a lightweight storage bag which I can leave at base camp. Eberlestock Spike duffel looks great. Found a sale in Canada for them and waiting for reply before I order and pay. Otherwise 4wd Supercentre BBQ bag is the correct size, few modifications to the carry handle to change them to tension straps may work. Worth a try at $34/ea.
  18. Received my cheap MOLLE packs $183.50 ($61.75 plus $30 postage per pack) delivered from USA to Sunshine Coast I expected them to arrive after the 12 April First impression is that the belt and back straps are not that bad. Will load it up and see. It came with two sizeable side pouches, one small pouch and some sort of a small open top bag and a front panel covering the frame between the two side pouches. A medium dry bag for gear will fit nicely between the side pouches and between the frame and front panel. I’ll add a webbing strap like the exo to carry meat. Like all packs, carrying a load will proof if it works or not.
  19. Did a little googling over the weekend between the rain and modifying my LC76 drawer system and came to the same conclusion. Eberlestock backpacks is getting hammered for backpacks that does not fit probably and straps with limited adjustment. Few bad customer services comments as well. I am glad I bought the cheap ass MOLLE eBay special. I just want a frame which allow for strap adjustment and custom bags fitments to the frame. The idea is to carry everything to camp and then unstrap and use the MOLLE frame with strap on H2O bag as day hunting pack. Been issues with the MOLLE frame but all fixable with some brains and later models.
  20. Thanks, i’ll Check a couple of the USA forums.
  21. Did you consider the Eberlestock Mainframe F1 with an attached bag to be similar to the Seek Outside Revolution Suspension Pack Frame
  22. Thanks, great info The crib load shelf attachment is a great item since it works against gravity. You can position the load and it will stay there. I’ll see how my cheap ex army pack go with a couple of adjustment, like a crib load shelf and better hip belt.
  23. How do you find the exo with carrying meat out between the frame and pack. How tight do you have to pull the straps around the meat to prevent gravity pulling the pack down? I have no experience in backpack hunting but understand packing hiking backpacks where loading of the load will make it an enjoyable or a bitch of a walk. My understanding is that if you carry a Sambar leg and backpack that you need to strap the leg as best as possible to the hip belt to transfer the load to the hips. If you just strap it to the frame, gravity will eventually pull it down which will put additional load on the shoulder harness and you I’ll have back pain soon. I could basically unstrap my shoulder harness on my internal frame backpack and only carry my backpack on my hip belt, given I packed it correctly and it is a flat walk. My shoulder harness was there to prevent gravity from playing up when walking on uneven ground. That is the main reason why I like the Eberlestock F1 frame or Warhammer with the external frame and return loop. As long as the hip belt and the return frame is well secure you can place the load on it and gravity will not pull it further. You can achieve the same with a good load spreading strap cross connection when the leg is between the frame and backpack. Anyway, just curious if I am on the correct track with backpack hunting.
  24. They will arrive 12 April i did a quick search and most backpacks sell parts, so will wait till they are here and then replace the hip belt. My first backpack was an external frame, heavy but it worked. Had it for 5 years. I then change to an internal frame. Better backpack for backpack hiking. Adjustable back straps and padding. I did most hiking trails at least twice in South Africa, no expert but I know what works for me. Theses days the weight advantage of internal frames and better adjustable padding are match by external frame packs. Best to fit, load and walk with them. These ones were cheap, if it does not work, I can still use the four packets are on a Eberlestock F1 mainframe.
