  1. That's a different handle to mine but the light just bolts ontop with the nut and thread . My power beam hasa bracket welded to the light housing and a hole in the bracket that fits over the end of the handle shaft . If the barcket hole is too small just drill it out a bit. If you are trying to convert a handheld light to a remote handle mount then you need an addon bracket .
  2. Are you talking about a through a hole in the roof type setup , with the control handle coming down inside the cab ?
  3. There is one issue with using the "Track back " feature that you need to know. It can cause some confusion to new users. If you start out on a route and at some point decide to use track back you must make sure you don't move away from your course out as you engauge "track back ". If you have moved toward your home position after engauging Track back what can happen is that the GPS unit will want to steer you back to the point that you left the going out course and then return you onto the coming home course. Now this first direction may be in the opposite direction that you know home is. So confusion can result. Confusion can lead to believing that the GPS is wrong or broken or whatever. So for a first time user you should always store seperate waypoints of camp the car whatever as a backup just incase you stuff up Track back. If at any time you get unsure of what Track back is doing then it's time to dump it and go to straight waypoint navigation. Once you get to know the little quirks that can happen it's not a big deal.
  4. Can't advise you on the merits of one over the other as that kind of gear is out of my reach. However you have to find out why the Zeiss is much cheaper. Could it be that it is not made in Germany ? I don't know. There has to be a reason it's much cheaper.
  5. Connect the alligator clips so they are sideways not sticking up and lay a thin rubber bath mat or similar on top then run the wires out the side of the bonnet some place and close the hood. Also make sure the battery is secure and will not move about.
  6. I did buy a screwdriver set and some pin punchse a long time ago and some other stuff I have forgoten exactly what but they were ok to deal with back then. I sent money orders in those days. Most big American gun accessory dealers are good . You will have to contact them and get postage charges on the exact articles you want. US postage is reasonable I have found . Americans are very good at giving service to customers so I don't think you will have trouble. If you contact Sinclair International they used to have an account you could open and they would hold money for you. This way you could send money to your account when the Aussie dollar was high and it was held in US dollars in your account untill you wanted to buy something. I don't know if they still do it but it was real good back then when I had more money.
  7. The problem is that so many other accessories have cig lighter plugs so they do get used and they are easy to replace. Hella make some nice plugs also for 12v Dc operations but they are expensive also.
  8. I agree that a new dedicated cig plug with thicker wiring direct to the battery with a seperate 15 amp fuse is way better. Generally a 100 watt light will draw about 8 amp. @ 12 volt . Some 20 amp rated 3mm automotive cable will be fine to run two plugs . Fit a two plug setup with a seperate fuse on each plug. Don't run all your lights while spotlighting as the slow driving can result in a low battery .
  9. Thanks for that , the unit looks quite interesting and gets around the laser problems. Only problem is they say no exports outside of USA. SO how do I get one? The unit I was thinking about adjusts from 2 to 5 degrees . So I think it is quite good but maybe hard to get. The Pdf you link to only talks about hand held laser pointers , so is a fixed laser illuminator illegal or not ? I guess when you weigh it all up an IR Led torch is way safer than a laser. However does it really give a good light at 500m? The two I have , one is built in and only goes about 100 m the other an add on to a weaver rail and it goes about 200 m.
  10. What I want is 150mw IR laser illuminator so it's fairly powerful. It does not produce a single laser beam but a diffused IR laser spot that travels a long way but is not an intense narrow beam. Tightest light beam is 2 degrees so it's not a real laser beam. One of these http://www.infraredv...ages/illum4.htm . Do you rekon this would be illegal ?
  11. OK thanks for that . I am lucky I found that out as I was thinking of buying a long range IR laser illuminator . Bugg*r ! That would have been 250 bucks or more down the drain.
  12. It's only a very low power thing only costs about 10 bucks. Runs on two AA batteries. Basicly a small personal torch with a laser pointer. Customs has sent him a letter saying he will not get it .
  13. A mate has just had a torch confiscated by customs. It is a normal led torch with a laser in the middle of the reflector . Low power eye safe laser. Does anyone know if lasers are now a banned import?
  14. The most important part to break up is your head and shoulders and face . Most animals focus and recognise our head and shoulder shape and face shine the most . As long as you cover and break up that part and sit with a broken background most animals will not see what you are untill they smell you or you move or they hear something or they get very close .
  15. I am afraid I 'm with Gibs on this one . He is dead right , an ocular mount would be a pain in my view also. I am currently mounting an NV scope on a 30-06 AI and the risk of getting belted everytime would be very counter productive to accuracy with an ocular mount . I guess there is lots of air rifles and rimfires that could use an ocular mount with no problem .
  16. Whats ASAT stand for , A shirt and Thongs . One thing full camo is good for is getting really quick service at Mc Donalds. One time after I got caught in some floods the only clean clothing I had was my full set of nato cam. So I had no choice but to wear it home as the other clothing was putrid. I was starving so I stopped at a Mc Donalds . The manager nearly put his hip out rushing to a new till to open it and serve me . Maybe it was the black cordura bag over my shoulder or the bulge under my jacket I'm not sure. This was in the days when only Rambos wore camo clothing now it's a fashion statement. Perry looks gorgeous !!!
  17. This is my pathetic attempt at taking a photo through my CCD camera NV scope. Range of back ground foliage is 50 meters. Quarter moon , however the background foliage is in total darkness under heavy tree cover. Short rang IR illuminator is on. Through my 4 to 12 x 50 Leupold scope I could see nothing in the same spot under the trees. The picture does not do justice to the actual image your eyes see . However you can see some detail of a branch and leaves in the background . If there was a mouse on that branch I could have seen him quite well.
  18. Good luck I hope you succeed in your endevor. Promotion of the product is as important as the engineering. Remember the 6 mm Remington it got done by an inferior cartridge , the 243 Winchester , because of better product promotion.
  19. Are the G3 tubes new , unused surplus or used tubes. The tubes have a finite life in hours and old abused tubes may still work but have lost their best performance. An old used G3 might be no better than a new G1. I think the average shooter should also look into the CCD IR camera type NV scope. That way they can use it during the day also , with less risk of damaging the device and aging it .
  20. G3 I presume is Generation 3 . I thought thatt they were already out dated by XD4 and XR5 image tubes.
  21. Looks like it will do the job . What generation is the tube ? I was interested in an add on NV scope but eventually I opted for a stand alone scope to start with . The add on has got some benifits as far as making the rig more flexible and if the add -on is removed you still have a sighted normal scope. It's a big plus. I just found out it's a Generation 2 + which is very good and should give excellent images.
  22. You may well be right . However if the quad antenna is laying sideways in the case it is loosing performance ability and if it's vertcile inside the case with other components beside it it's loosing performance in some directions. That does not change the basic facts of what I said about how to hold the different antenna systems. The case design may just be longer or the PC board design shorter to allow more room for the quad antenna so no projection is necessary. I think you missed the point a bit . It was mainly about holding the GPS correctly .
  23. I think reception problems could be a result of how some people hold their GPS. One guy I know leaves the GPS dangling from a lanyard swinging about and pointing downward. Then wonders why it looses sat lock. Some units have patch antennas and some have quadrafillar antennas . The patch antenna needs to be held flat towards the sky . The quadrafillar antenna needs to be held verticle towards the sky . Now a quadrafillar will still do a reasonable job held flat towards the sky but the patch antenna will not work well held verticle unless several sats just happen to be low on the receiving side . A patch antenna usually has no projection at the top of the GPS casing. A quadrafilla has a projection sticking up at the top of the case.
