  1. I have one of these also. Got it on speciala few months back... It's an excellent top and pants and if I'm stalking I often just wear the top. The gloves are pretty amusing. Xav
  2. You can gte sportswash from rebel and all those types of sports stores too. I have heard about using lux but I always thought it would be a bit scented like normal soap. Vinegar is good but if you use to much you can smell it. However it is as good as anythign else on the market to sanitise and deodorise and once your clothes have aired it is not detectable by animals I am told. If you dry them ina clothes dryer though it can stick around. I was tempted to buy sportswash but I'm not sure it is worth it. Xav
  3. As long as their is mobile phone reception 112 will work. It won't work just any where unfortunately.
  4. I just found one for 70 bucks and will get it for under $100 with postage. So I'm giving it a go. it will take 4.5 years to get to the cost of an epirb so it is well worth it I think. Heaps of operations have been carried out in Australia because of them and I found out someone I know has one and he sings it praises with tracking and email/sms facility so.... Excellent! Thanks for the posting Len because I had forgotten about them after deciding on an epirb but I'm very keen to try it. And even if I never use the emergency facility it can still track and log which is great. Xav
  5. all entitled to our own opinions. That's the beauty of the forum. One can simplify something greatly but at the end of the day people get lost, hurt and there ain't anything that can be done about it. Army troops gte lost all the time despite the best mapping, satelity facilitites available. It is not hard to recall paying an account every 12 months and businesses always let you know if you ran out because it is in their best interest. It seems to me you hold something against the spot messenger more then anything? Xav
  6. I agree that it has the operating costs and maybe that's a bit rough but for someone like me the ability to log is worth the cost. Not just to me but if I'm away for a week my partner would appreciate this also. The way cheaper purchase price compared to plb's and still maintains the accuracy..... It would take 3 years to get to a purchase price of say a GME epirb yet you don't have the same functions. And if I was lost but not in a life threatening situation I could easily call for help but not a search and rescue team therfore saving me thousands of dollars as a friend or family member could just drive out and find me. I wasn't keen but after thinking about it tonight... I might just go this way. The only thing that comes to mind is if it needs GPS reception to be effective I can often be out of this when I'm in the bush. Xav
  7. Hey Fox, I'm looking at the same thing. I'm currently going the way you are also. at the end of the day the only differences are if they have the gps ability or not and the units size. I think you will find all to be rugged and reliable. To me I decided to bring it down to dollars because they are all the same in an inherit way. I've been looking for a few months and that was my conclusion anyway. Xav P.s. I'm sure you would of found out about the frequency business and the old version getting cut off etc.
  8. I have been looking also as I am often at Silverdale and hiring one every time is costly and they only have 45x ones which at 200metres don't seem to be enough.... especially for .22 or .17hmr holes. So I decided I'd need 60x but as it is only going to be used for the range I wasn't very worried about quality. I ended up with a barska. 20-75x I think. I read most spotting scopes die at their highest magnification so using it around 60 power should be no hassle and is enough magnification. Although ordering from the optic zone previously I always had a good, easy run... but this time nothing went smoothly and complete lack of communication so I rang my bank and told them to cancel the order and went through ebay instead. Only cost $140.00 with postage from the U.S so I'm happy with it. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...N:IT&ih=023 Xav
  9. I'm not going to post a pic of mine on an open forum but it is worth around a grand and fits 12 rifles. I spent a bit because after seeing some of the cheap safes and how easy they would be to cut through I couldn't bare to put my firearms in something like that.
  10. Cabelas don't send scopes international and our dollar ain't going back up unfortunately. Xav
  11. If you can cancel your order or even stop the credit card I would and go the cheaper postage. It takes no more then 8 working days for the cheaper postage. I got a set of their boots the other day... WEll Irish setter is the brand and they are excellent so far, heaps better then any thing I can find here. and cost about 110 bucks with postage. Xav
  12. Hi Bugman, if that is what you want to do your best bet is a PDA or palm pilot running ozi explorer or similar. I run 4 different gps systems these days and the palmpilot with gps receiver is by far the best. Cost wise it can vary because of the amounts of pda's to choose from and the gps receiver would cost under $150. Pda anywhere from $100-$600. I also run a garmin 60 csx which has excellent capability but nothing compared to running the palm. You can have sattelite pics on the parm, maps of everywhere, made up tracks to follow, google earth shots.... Xav
  13. I disagree. What I have seen here compared to Cabela's is just rubbish. I'm by no means saying Cabela's has quality stuff but Anything that is even close to the price over here is ready to fall apart. I've had great success with everything from Cabelas and although I would not by everything from there due to disliking spending my money out of the country when it comes to quality and cost U.S. staff exceeds us by far. Xav
  14. hahaha, that's pretty funny. But then all the cattle I have worked with try to eat me no matter what I'm wearing. Xav
  15. Excellent. Made up my mind then I'll keep my Garmin.
