  1. Its a HID Xenon, thats freakin wicked! Run time would be pretty low I suspect (as fenring mentioned). Plug it into your cigarette lighter (if possible) and spotlight with it. I would love to see it in action? got any web address details or product names so I can google?
  2. Good stuff mate. Be mindful that the bottoms will get caught alot. If you head into a blackberry patch you wont come out haha My 3D top gets caught a bit and you lose the odd piece here and there.
  3. Len: This is the eBay one. $150 for a 5w unit. All the china ones are the same from my research. Except these are the cheapest by far http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BLACK-5W-UHF-CB-OMDI-TRANSCIEVER-CB-RADIO-FULL-RANGE-/200463778723?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Electronics_Radio_Equipment&hash=item2eac9283a3 That link to the Motorola twin pack is the one i would get if i needed a couple for the scrub
  4. Len, you can get those 5W UHF on eBay for around $150! I got a 3w cheapo one and it is pretty bad. Doesn't turn on and you need to remove battery. It also doesn't have adjustable squelch. If I was going to do it again I would buy the twin pack ones (Motorola) off eBay. They sell for around $170 with chargers.
  5. Deal extreme is a awesome site.... I love just browsing all the junk on it haha My credit card takes a pounding when im done from that site. I bought a couple of the flint fire starters for $5! The last one I bought cost me $15 from Rays I have a few torches from them and they are great. One of the big ones is 900 lumens and it throws a massive amount of light. Although it uses 4 cr123 (or whatever they are) batteries so its a tad heavy. I prefer the light from a Xenon globe but they run out of puff before the Cree varieties.

    Hunting Knives

There is a guy in aus who sells knives on eBay. All name brand stuff. They are good price and cheap postage. Worth a look. Just search knives on eBay
  7. I thought deer cant see color?
  8. haha Im not sure everyones Mrs will like these. They sell complete camo wraps for vehicles. Would need some guts to drive that around.
  9. www.teamhard.com You can get these camo caps (among other things) in a cool camo pattern. I was going to get one as I need a blaze orange cap.... but to expensive. You can only get them from the above website but at $16 + $15 postage US its a bit rich. They sell them on eBay AUS site for $24 + $10 US which is even worse. And On the eBay US site they are cheaper but they dont ship overseas. A bit of a rip considering its all the same company. Anyways, someone might wanna get one.
  10. 10K? Jeez You must be packing some serious heat I got a couple of grand lol
  11. Planning the next trip

  12. Didn't know you needed 3 point locking in NSW..... VIC laws are basic as. *Sturdy construction *bolted to floor or stud in wall if weight under 150kg *If weigh over 150kg DONT need to bolt down What Sturdy means exactly is anyone's guess!
  13. I was just looking for tool boxes for a ute and came across a company that also makes gun safes. They seem like good value to me. 8 Guns for $280 http://www.toolboxcity.com.au/gunsafes.htm
  14. I cut a small length of 80mm pipe and sat the tube inside. I then attached the 35mm lens and ocular to the end caps. It was then simply a matter of adjusting the end caps by hand until I had the right distance (in focus) and cutting a new length of 80mm pipe so the end caps fit perfect.
  15. Sometimes, passive is better than active if there's mist or rain around. Otherwise you just tend to see the rain and your range is reduced. I switch between the two when I'm spotting. Sorry mate, what do you mean by this? Passive/Active?
  16. Yeah, I tried it on the weekend. It was bucketing down so I only used it from camp under the tarp. There was NO stars/moon and I was in the middle of the bush. I had the F2 lens and it worked out to about 30m I reckon. It was hard to test properly under the conditions, but I was surprised it still worked ok. No pics taken though. Ill take it out with me every trip so ill get a pic eventually
  17. So in theory an IR laser from a mouse should work. And even run off the battery already used by the NV scope as USB uses 5v and rechargable put out 1.2V x 4 = 4.8V? Ill try it if I can pick one up cheap
  18. Oh, you can still use lasers legally. As you pointed out, less than 1mw is fine. They are used quite often by rock climbers and also lecturers @ Uni. I wonder if it would show ok through a NV scope? Might be to bright?
  19. Using a IR laser that will be invisible for us to see but should create light for the NV scope to see better at night?
  20. Anyone considered using a USB IR mouse from a computer to put on top of the NV scope? USB runs on 5V or similar doesn't it? Just pull the guts out of it and whack it on top?
  21. Sorry Danny, missed your post. I purchased them from Kayak shed in Canada. A google search will come up with the web address. I received them a couple of days ago. Have been wearing them around the yard. First impressions, they seem very fragile. That could be because they are small/light/thin, time will tell. They are fantastic to wear, if you dont mind things between your toes. You have alot of feel without the pain of sharp objects. I will give them a good run in this weekend in the mountains. If they hold up well I will get another pair (the cheaper style) to wear around the garden/shops/dog walks etc and keep these for camping trips.
  22. I took a couple of pics last night. One is in the backyard. Full (or almost) moon. Was the darkest corner I could find. The bin is only about 10m away. Lens is the ~50mm F2. Then I went down to the park behind my house and behind me was street lights and infront of me was the moon right on the horizon! So it was a waste of time. Anyway, I tried. The photo was way over exposed, just to much light. Not my camera so I had no way of doing anything about it. The closer forest on the left of the photo is about 200m away and the forest all the way in the distance is about 400m. Lens is ~130mm F2.8
  23. Nice pic! Im going hunting this weekend so will test it out proper in pitch black. Looks like a few blokes will have them going soon enough
  24. My bad. Missed that one! I have been waiting for AGES for them to arrive and it is never happening. Pretty annoying actually. Any other companies to deal with?
