  1. Why wouldnt you make one? The quality cr@ps all over the bought ones. Except for maybe infer red at night..... but they look pox anyway.
  2. Yeah, nice add Samhuntvic.... where is your ugly mug though Trail camera are easy to make mate. Link below shows the cameras which can be modded and how to do it..... although that is not the complete list. http://www.depreyswildlife.com/Mods/TrailCameraMods.html Below are sites you MUST read. Once you have read them you will be able to do it no probs. http://www.d.umn.edu/~shall/Homebrews.htm http://www.pixcontroller.com/ http://www.snapshotsniper.com/HomeBrewProducts.htm http://www.yeticam.com/ http://www.whitetailsupply.com/WS-PIR-Board.html http://www.hagshouse.com/ http://www.bfoutdoors.com/ Just chose a camera, mod it then purchase the stuff from one of the listed websites. I used yeticam..... just because...... You can even pay a tad more and get kits which come with everything you need plus pre-drilled. Then just whack it all together and away you go.
  3. Good work Rono! Not only on the boots but also the deer. Couldnt get a shot off? or looking for a trophy?
  4. Great price. Nothing beats the bargain bin from the states Try them out at the Eildon hunt, you know ya want to
  5. Damn man, your toes are going to be steaming. I purposely wanted low to no insulate in mine. I dont reckon it gets cold enough over here. How much they set ya back?
  6. I wear camo because it looks cool haha And because I like to have clothes for work, clothes for going out, clothes for hunting. It just makes it easier for me to chose what to wear.... otherwise I would be like a chick and couldnt decide what outfit to hunt with lol
  7. If you think that lace up work boots are good you really should try the hunting specific boots that gryph mentioned. I used Caterpillar lace up work boots and they where ok.... then I bought the real deal..... easily the best piece of kit I own. You are in them ALL day so it pays to buy quality IMO.. I can walk up and down some serious mountains and my feet are fine.... seriously comfy! And WAY more grip... Infact it would almost be dangerous to use inferior footwear when walking around with a loaded gun... especially Sambar territory. my 2c $119AUD delivered is bloody cheap
  8. They should be water proof upto just past the ankle as they have a inner gore-tex sock. I cant wait to get out this wknd and try em out.... hope its wet heh I went upto Army disposal today to pick up my map I ordered and had a look at the boots. They are pretty crap compared. Expensive too. Def states is the way to go.
  9. My new boots arrived in the mail last week. Only got them today due to overseas holiday. Anyways, been wearing them around the house. God damn they are comfy! I bought them in size US 11, which is the same as everything else I wear and they are a tinny bit lose. With thick socks they are spot on. No need to wear them in I would say, thats how comfortable they are. I bought them off basspro for $140 delivered. They where $70US special. All those sites I got from here have great deals... cheers lads. Wolverine® 9'' Canyon Non-Insulated Boots for Men I would recommend that site to purchase... yet to recommend the boots, will field test first. First impressions are good.
  10. What websites do people get there hunting gear from? If you dont mind sharing. I know of Cabelas: http://www.cabelas.com And after reading a few posts on boots, gryph mentioned basspro: http://www.basspro.com Some pretty good prices in the clearance bins, even with the exchange rate. After a pretty long hunt yesterday and reading the topics on boots, i realise my caterpillar work boots just dont cut it lol A pitty the Rocky insulated boots are only in size 9. Half the forum owns them by the sounds of it haha
  11. Any Auto spray paint shop will have what your after mate. Most likely already made up, but if you have a color in mind they can make them up. Even put it into a spray pack for ya. Only cost around $10
  12. I cant see how wearing different styles of camo at the same time will be that bad. The bush is never the same. Surely wearing auscam pants, gillie suit style jacket, 3d gloves etc... wont make a noticeable difference?
  13. Oh, icic. I never even knew auto focus existed. I goto start looking at the premium ones not the pox $70 ones hah Cheers
  14. How much they cost Rono? Do you find that being 10x you need to constantly focus the eye piece? I looked through a pair (different brand) at different distances and the 7x seemed to focus on everything while the 10x needed constant adjustment.
  15. What are they like to carry about the bush? They look a little on the large size.
  16. Garmin Etrex H from eBay $100. I got mine a few months back and its great. Sure beats a map. JB are selling them ATM for $139
  17. Mattress in the back of the ute or rooftop tent when the old man comes.
  18. I had trouble seeing you hidden behind that pot plant in the lounge room!
  19. VIC laws are crap. As brenny said, the safe just has to be stirdy, bolted to the ground/wall or weight over 150kg... You are legaly allowed to put them in old school lockers ffs The firearms act is stupid the more I think about it hah
  20. lol, to true. Ill avoid the more exxy binos like the plague lol..... srsly though, I can just imagine how good the more expensive ones are but at this stage I would rather buy a new gun and other gear.. once I have all my new stuff binos will be nxt.
  21. Woah... thats NOT budget haha I got mine from Rays outdoors. $50.... now THATS budget. 8x40. Work a treat.
  22. Thats fast delivery, not bad. Well that proves that air freight is faster than land. Enjoy. Cant wait to see pics and hear the report from the hunt
  23. I dont have alot of experiance buying gear, but Cabelas stuff does seem like good gear. No one really complains. So I will probably buy future stuff from them also. Will be interesting to see if you get your stuff quicker using air freight. Keep us posted
  24. Hope you didnt pay extra for air freight! Apparently it takes the same amount of time for half the price using land freight. I got mine in just over a wk, so you will have yours by the 29th. Just out of interest, what did you purchase?
