Bought some Bino's recently and did a lot of research on top Euro brands that cost the earth. Then looked at Jap Binos like Nikon, Pentax etc. After looking through many different magnifications and brands I settled on the Browning 10X42, Jap made and cost approx AU$500. I didn't even know Browning (same logo as the rife) made Binos until I was made aware of them by a specialist Bino store. They are light weight, good solid construction and when looking through Leica, Swarovski and Browning at the store I could't pick any difference in optical quality.

I'm looking @ getting myself either a set if mid range Alpen Apex's in a 8x42, Leupold Pinnacles or Cascades in 8x42 or the Nikon Monarchs in 8x42.

Does anyone here use the Alpens or Leupolds & if so, what's your general opinion on them.

cheers

Joe

Hi Joe,

I haven't used Leupolds (got a VX 111 scope though) or Alpens, but if you are looking at Nikon Monarchs then it is worth a look at the Brownings.

I've had a couple of people give me good reports on the Brownings also but haven't been able to find them for the right price?!?!

I did see them advertised a while back in the States for a good price & I'll consider them again if they come up for the right price.

Just bit the bullet & got myself a pair of Alpen Rainiers from the states for $450 US & they included the harness aswell as a tripod mount!!!

Seen them advertised for $1200 US elsewhere, wait & see how they go I guess.
