    What Knife For U?

I do not know whether my knife is stamped or forged? What i do know and Russell can vouch for this on the weekend, splitting the rib cage and gutting using a solid steel knife gives you confidence that it wont break or shatter with usual human force........ once again a chef knows his knives..... What Knife For U?

Here's a photo Lachy, i find the bolster fine even when working on fatty velvet stags It is a great shape to sharpen and you are right the edge is razor! There is one really cool feature that i learnt after purchasing the knife, the blade goes up to the bolster.......a lot of current knives the blade stops 1/4-1/2" from the bolster and there is a gap of unshapened steel. This can make for a rather difficult gutting job on large animals......as the hide keeps sliding past the sharp blade onto the blunt and bolster.. BTW it is great to find somebody else other than a chef who knows about global SSGA

    What Knife For U?

I use a japanese whaling knife, purchased about 6yrs ago. Now of the market for politically correct reasons Global Knives - Anyways she is 100% high grade S/Steel and hasn't corroded even after being exposed to long periods of salty moisture....... 3.5-4mm at the back and can split a Sambars chest from woh to go in no time, it has even caped every thing from goats, hog deer to sambar. As to be expected holds an edge for a very long time even when used to chop bones, sharpening is a little longer than my swibo in the kitchen but gives a good break in the field SSGA
  5. Look value for money do an internet search...... Brands like Steiner (I own 2 pairs), Alpen (1 pair), Zeiss (1 pair), Bushnell (2 scopes), Pentax (1 scope), Canon (3 video cams) all have very good value for money optics without going over board. Japanese made or designed optics are now more affordable than ever, even Zeiss make value for money binos for the American market........ Wiggum "listen and learn" and Gryphon "remember back those 30yrs" and you'll both come to an understanding of why these questions are asked over and over again..... Merry Xmas SSGA
  6. I knew you'd bite gryph, esp about the steiners being a gift LOL too bad there was no nibble on the shirt, sometimes you have to admit new is better though...... <chuckle> <chuckle> bud, only a poor tradie will blame his tools when they fail Lets hope you got another 15yrs in ya for sambar hunting an the like......get the drill! SSGA
  7. S$#t Gryph didn't realise you bought yourself a good quality product other than the "new shirt"! I mean i seen the 7mm winny (factory now closed due to product design flaws LOL) and the mexican made Loopy......whats next hehehehe SSGA
  8. Why own the Leicas if you dont use them ..are you saying that they are too good for the rough stuff or is the rough stuff too good for them? Hey how do you see through the 10X steiners at 5m? An honest q`s. Whats at 5m gryph? Honest question SSGA read my post again SSGA,thats what im asking him,he`s quoting 5 m not me. Thats what i am getting at.....if he can see at 5m - 300m without touching the auto focus they must be good bino's, but i dont get his comment about the lieca's either!!! Hmm $400 bucks plus for basic set of bino's SSGA

  10. I have had my S3 for 3 months now and i know a lot of it's in an outs. Reasons for buying are........ 1. 12x optical zoom 2. Ultra fast turn on to full zoom! 3. Normal AA batteries 4. Marco and Super Macro Some photo's below...... Native Rubus (shows contrast) Goats 500yds (showing full zoom) white one ended up dead Sons Eye (moving object, kids dont stand still!) As you can see this camera makes the photographer! It is far better than me SSGA
