  1. My old suit was made completely out of netting my neighbour used to keep birds and bats out of his fruit trees. I got a piece about 3 m long and 2 m wide, folded in halfcut arms and tied underneath and down sides (to make a long jacket), cut a head hole and tied on a hood. I then tied bits of rag and hessian to the net. Used to chuck it over whatever I was wearing at the time. Will post pics when I find them
  2. Nice wright up mate I've got a couple of surefire's myself, aswell as a Maglight and the ever reliable and well used Dolphin
  3. I have had a Macpac Kauri for 15 years of abuse, and its still good. It's about 25l (I think) and is great for a day/ warm night. I've also just purchased a Macpac Traverse 65l for longer, colder trips. They're both solid packs, without heaps of crap hanging off the outside to get snagged up. The only issues I have is they are noisey (vegetation scraping) and dont come in cam, but otherwise solid and dependable. The other thing with tramping packs is to make sure you get the correct size frame for your back. This helps distribute weight and makes carrying crap around on your back a bit less of a chore.
  4. Estimate your range first, and then verify or correct estimate with rangefinder.
  5. I got a Garmin Etrek Legend, it's got more features than i know how to use, but suits my needs to a T
