If you're just walking around in damp grass and want to keep your toes warm, go for it, but GoreTex isn't going to make a lot of difference while crossing creeks up to your knees or deeper..... As for Bullers, don't knock them until you've tried them. The Kiwi.

The most popular boot for north island hunting over the past 35 or more years would be Bullers, just burn a hole with a hot wire in either side in the instep and you're away.
