  1. Mate mines through the roof, the ballast is sitting in the roof console, just a couple of wires running up the handle ond into the back of the light.
  2. Mate I got this kit: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120489692979&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:AU:1123 I also had to get a bulb adaptor, not sure where that came from, think it was about another $30 or so. Do a search on here for a thread by Epitome, that's where I started. Piece of cake to fit. As to the question does it make a difference? DOES IT!!!! Once you go HID you'll never go back. The genuine kit that looks all snazzy is pretty sweet, but it costs an arm and a leg.
  3. Can't help with the ballast because mine is roof mounted, but the red filter still does the trick.
  4. I converted my Nightforce 240 last year and never looked back, can't stand that crappy yellow halogen light anymore.
  5. LOL @ the people saying the can't comment publicly on things in the publicly accessable comments section of your profile.

Mate you know my position, keep up the good work, don't let the bastards drag you down, we WILL win.

    I AAM NOT A PRO

  7. False alarm, it decided to work when I had a look at it, just wanted me to spend some time with it, apparently we never talk any more..... I was after the complete unit as a spare, if you have one gathering dust?
  8. I think my globe blew last night, the light went out but I found a connector had come undone, when I plugged it back in still no love.... You don't want to sell your spare do you Epitome?? PM me if you do.
  9. *EDIT* hunted through my emails, it was from 95Soarer, the top link in your post above. The one I got had 2 kits in it, obviously for doing a set of driving lights, I gave one set and the packaging and instructions to a cocky who has helped me get onto a dozen properties (got to look after guy like him) I'm loving it!! The second one looks the goods though for handheld, mine is roof mounted.
  10. Stop 5crewing around and just get one of Imagine the fun you could have filling it!!!!
  11. Astra Metals in Malaga, they sell safes to the plod, and if they sell you a 5 gun safe, it'll COMFORTABLY fit 6, unlike the others..... I have one and will be getting a second soon, mine is a 5 gun, it has 7 in it, no way would you get them in a 5 gun Buffallo River.
  12. You mention getting a compass and maps, THAT is the best idea yet. A GPS is an AID to navigation, learn how to navigate using the basic tools so that when you drop the GPS/leave it on a rock/it's batteries go flat, you know how to find your way home without it. Remember, it's cold out there and there are things that go *bump* in the night...... Clicky With that in mind, and following your thoughts on using a map, all you need is something that will give you a position and point you in the direction of a waypoint (your vehicle), so the Etrx H would suit.
  13. I installed the conversion kit in my Lightforce 240 yesterday, took it out to the range last night, EASILY able to see the 500m targets. As a comparison I have 2 lightforce 240's on the bullbar, both of them together give about half the illumination of the single HID converted light. I didn't have a camera on me unfortunately. I'm sold, best light I have ever used, now to go blind some kangas with it.
  14. My kit arrived in the mail yesterday, waiting for the globe adaptor for the lightforce to arrive now, then it's all systems go
