  1. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has used either of these products and what did you think of it? I,m keen to get one to increase my success rate from just whistling them. Theres usually my and my two boys so theres a good chance any fox coming in will spot one of us make a slight movement. Its gotta be a bonus having the fox not looking directly at the source of the sound as it comes in. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Darren.
  2. Thanks for all the replies, i've ordered one from an ebay store in the states. $82 delivered for a gerber with top quality steel s30v blade. All reviews rave about it so i can't wait. Its the freeman stag (1832). Cheers, darren.
  3. Hi all. I,m looking for a good fixed blade knife and just wondering if anyone can suggest a reputable dealer. Probably in the states. Deadwood knives and knifecenter.com are both good by the way if anyone else is looking. Thanks for any help. Cheers, Darren.
  4. Thanks for all the replies everyone, its appreciated. Its tricky trying to pick one model over another. Some people will swear camera A is the dogs bollocks while someone else will say its rubbish. Oh well, a bit more research I think before I lay down the cash. One thing I did notice was on one particular model a guy said it did'nt work in the cold. He gave the temp in Farenheit and when I converted it to Celcius it was -12C. At the risk of being called soft: F%@# that! I'd stop working long before it got down to -12. One possible solution to that may be to use Ni-Mh rechargeable batteries instead of alkaline. Apparently they are not affected by temperature? Feel free to keep the thread going if you have anything useful to add. Cheers, Darren.
  5. Hi all, just found this today in a catalogue, don't know much about the brand or features and wondering if it looks ok? I'd love to get one and work out the local animals habits and movements. Any feedback by anyone with a bit of knowledge of these would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Darren.
  6. I've fallen in love with Arno Bernard knives. The Quality and style seem excellent. Google it and see what you think. Good luck with whatever you choose. Cheers, Darren.
  7. Cheers Murray, Just got back from a trip today and had a look at the scope, I'm rapt with it It's going straight on the 22 ready for some more bunny busting. Thanks again mate. Cheers, Darren.
  8. Thanks Murray, I,m going away soon so hopefully Aussie post get their finger out and I can use it on the 22. I,ll get the binos off to you asap mate. Cheers, Darren.
  9. Hi all, I have a brand new pair of Redfield 7x50 binos still in the plastic shrink wrap. I want to swap them for a scope for my .22. Anyone interested? Cheers, Darren.
  10. Just to confuse you a bit more, here's a link to the torch that I got. After reading all Fenring's posts I was convinced and I love it. So do my 2 boys who got one each as well. Battery life is excellent even on constant full power and the quality is obvious. We've had some good success with them and I would recommend them. All the accessories ( Batteries, Charger, Scope mount) came from dealextreme. Good luck with whatever you choose. Cheers, Darren. http://www.illuminationgear.com/14322/26971.html
  11. Batteries fully charged? Contacts clean? Good luck with it. Darren
  12. Yeah, it turned up today, they are in Hong Kong.
  13. Hi Firefox, If you're thinking about getting a good torch have a look in the rabbit and fox hunting forums at some of fenrings posts. Also, someone else did a really thorough comparison between the Eagletac and the Wolfeyes that is well worth reading. I think they were both posted around the start of this year or late last year. I was convinced, my Eagletac arrived last week and I,m waiting for the batteries, charger and mount to turn up from a mob in the U.S. called dealextreme. All up about $70 delivered. Cheers, Darren.
  14. I got the same pair a bit over a week ago and took them on a 5 day hunt to Walgett the next day. First day there I was dragging a hog out of the mud around a dam and sank ankle deep into the mud. Back at the house i washed them with the hose while I was wearing them and my feet stayed dry. Very comfy boot and a great price too. When we got back my Brother in law went straight out and got a pair 'cos he was impressed with mine. You,ll love 'em. Make sure you buy a tin of Dubbin from woolies and go all over them and they should stay waterproof and last for years. And get a pair of them things that cover your socks and top of your boots. Everyone was wearing them out there. I did,nt get any grass seeds or burrs in my boots because I had a pair and I reckon they,re just as important to take as your gun. Cheers, Darren
  15. Yeah, I know a better spotty is more efficient on battery usage but I did,nt want to spend too much at this stage (new rifle comes first) and i already own the battery. It,s a 90 amp so I should get a few nights shooting out of it without recharging it. Plus the trolley comes in handy for a rest for my young bloke who has,nt done any shooting before. My old man made something similar for me when I was just starting out and I had a blast and nailed heaps with it. Each to their own, but for $60 all up, I,m happy. Good hunting. Cheers, Darren.
  16. Hi all, Just thought i,d add my 2 cents. I,ve got a 90 amp deep cycle battery that powers the electric motor in my boat. It weighs a ton so no chance of carrying it around. I,ve just bought a $35 trolley from Bunnings and converted it to a battery carrier with pneumatic tyres and a cradle that holds the battery and tilts when I tilt the trolley so the battery stays upright. I,m taking it away on the long weekend so i,ll see how it goes. I,ve tried it in the backyard at night and it,s easy to wheel and does,nt rattle around at all. I,m just using a cheap 55watt spotty from Supercheap that i,ve had a while and another one as backup that was $25 and is 1.5 million candlepower. Don,t know what wattage it is. Me and my 2 boys can,t wait. It,s their first trip. Hope this is of some help to someone. Cheers, Darren.
  17. Hi all, My name is Darren, I,m from the Central Coast. I used to be into hunting in a big way but i,ve been out of the game for 15 or so years, so I,m gonna be asking lots of questions. I,ve got 2 boys, (6 and 9) and I,m taking them shooting on the long weekend for the first time. I think i,m more pumped than them if thats possible. I,m looking at getting a Savage .22 magnum 'cos my .270 is a bit much for rabbits. It feels great to be getting involved in the sport again that was a big part of my teenage years. Cheers, Darren.
