  1. Thanks for sharing. Did you end up having to shift the scope forward to make it comfortable to use? I’d say that would be a must on a heavy-kicker. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Double-check the upload screen & make sure tracks & routes are ticked. The standard points come in when the "Waypoint" box is ticked, but lines will be tracks or routes. Let me know if this doesn't do the trick. Cheers.
  3. I have a PowaBeam handle into a Lightforce SL240. The handle also works with a LightForce window mount support-a-light (i.e. the plate that comes with the handle will clamp in). Cheers.
  4. The spotlighting setup will initially see service on wild donkeys. Just a pest control favour for a mate, as I'm mainly into hunting pigs by day. They're in a small paddock & rapidly depleting what pasture is left. I reckon a yellow filter/cellophane would be the go against insects, as this is the colour of anti-insect bulbs. It would be interesting to know if there is any difference in attractiveness to insects between the HID & standard bulbs - sure the former is brighter to us, but with the different wavelengths, maybe it's an issue to insects??? Cheers.

  6. The gear just arrived. This is what $465 buys - LightForce SL240, Powa-Beam handle, Support-A-Light, & Big Iron shooting rest. There's no switch on the handle, so I'm going to have to reach up high or cut & splice in some in-line switch - what have others done? I've used a suction-roof mounted types before, though the handle always got in the way when opening the door. Now with this setup, the handle & everything else goes with the door, though the window space is a little more cluttered now with the strut being there. If insects coming for the light become a problem in the cabin, I might try a yellow filter. I can't wait to try it out! Cheers.
  7. If your shots are going be steep uphill or downhill, I'd recommend a rangefinder that calculates the horizontal distance to target (compared to direct distance), as that's what trajectory is dependent upon. I'm not sure about the gear you're considering, but for e.g., the Leupold rangefinder models 3(?) & above have this function. Also, there is at least one another riflescope brand than the one mentioned in an earlier post that has the rangefinder function - maybe Bausch&Lomb/Bushnell Elite(?) - I can check my magazines if you want more details...but not sure if it has the aforesaid horizontal distance function. Cheers.
  8. Are either the LightForce, PowaBeam, or BlazaLight spotlights going to be forward-compatable with the new HID (High Intensity Discharge) bulbs that are coming out? Cheers.
  9. epitome - is there any vertical adjustment in your setup - because the SL is missing the bolt-pivot point of the RMSM lights. rick1970 - is that Blazalight handle attached to a LightForce light? Cheers.
  10. On the MapSource software that came on a disc with your GPS, you can view only either the Shonky, Garmin, etc. map at a time, so I suspect it's the same story on the GPS screen. I have a Garmin ETrex Vista HCx that allows in the map setup to tick what map you want displayed. So go in there on your GPS & you can at least change to the map you can't see at the moment. Cheers.
  11. Hi, I use a LightForce SL140 (with ergonomic handle - not the RMSM type with bolt pivot point) with a scope mount while driving around. Now I want to add to the setup a LightForce door-mounted spotlight, such as with the "Support-A-Light"window bracket http://www.supportalight.com.au/supportalight.htm. It will be for a late model Hilux, & I'm wondering what will be the easiest handle to use - the RC150 or the longer RC225? I'm medium sized & want to rest my arm on the window sill while using the light. The store that will do a mail order has changed my quote from a RM240 to a SL240 - will the latter attach to the handle & have enough range of adjustments? Can the on/off switch on the handle control the SL240, without cutting/soldering/etc.? I heard once that this type of setup couldn't be locked in place for when you want to keep the spot on something while taking you hand off the handle - has this moderm gear solved the problem? The SL is supposed to have more candlepower than the RMSM (about 1 million Vc 750 000), as its bulb isn't the longlife one. Do I need to add anything to the list to be able to go spotlighting?: - *Support-A-Light *SL or RMSM 240 spotlight *RC 150 or 225 handle *spare bulb 100watt horizontal filament bulb Cheers.
